here it is. good news for the anticipating fans. :) i'm not exactly one of those, but it's nice to see one of the year's biggest titles didn't get panned. Jinroh_basic
I was planning on buying it at some point anyway but the fact it is getting praise puts me at ease.
I still find dow2 a wrong step for the series. Why not just add in the good combat system with the base building... why did they have to take it out.simardbrad
To be different than 90% of RTS games maybe?
Personally i love that there is no base building at all and all the focus is on the battlefield, its the first RTS i find myself playing like a crack addict.

Because Relic feels that the RTS paradigm needs a change. I mean, there's only so many ways you can have the same forumla year after year after year. By taking base building out of the equation, players can focus on the action instead of having to worry about the logistics of running a base. Personally, I like the feel of DoW2's system. It feels more Warhammer-esque in that it's more focused on combat.
kind of reminds me of ground control, the way it's described, with the focus on individual unit strengths and weaknesses...
I'm sorely tempted to pick this up, but I must have strength because Empire: TW is coming soon... ugh it's hard

And by changing the RTS paradigm, they transformed the campaign into a RTT game, with a flavour of RPG. That's not a bad thing, but a game that plays almost exactly like the old Commandos isn't RTS.
There's a difference between real time strategy and real time tactics, but most people don't care to notice. That's also why so many people, even fans, say Empire will crush every RTS this year... That's like saying Crysis crushed Assassin's Creed in 2007.
I'm hoping it's good. I loved the original but I have no trust for game reviews from any for profit website. Their scores are bought by the publishers and can't be counted as valid. A realistic score table for those sites would be:
10 = great
9.5 =pretty good
9.0 = good
8.5 =worth a play
8.0 = worth a play if you're bored
7.5 = worth a play only if you're drunk
7.0 = someone dared you to play this pile
below 6.5 = you thought you were microwaving a burrito

praise Satan, someone actually knows what Ground Control is
Great score, though it seems to be 4% down from CoH and I'm not exactly a fan of IGN's reviewers.
Still, considering the DLC system, Dawn of War II doesn't seem like the type of game you can issue a permanent review to.
mmm not really they gave fear 2 a 8.3 and i thought it was a brilliant game.I'm hoping it's good. I loved the original but I have no trust for game reviews from any for profit website. Wait, i thought they only removed the base building from Single player, i dont see how thats "boring" i mean if anything it keeps the game interesting. U have to take care of ur pawns and make sure they r picking up minerals, i love that about sc, if u dont have a good economy ur done for. If they kept Base building for MP i might get it.TanKLoveR
There's still an economy, the difference is that you capture resources rather than mine them.

So, its just like CoH?.+ a few Action-RPG elements and - basebuilding elements and a bit of other stuff, yeah.

So, its just like CoH?. Yes, it's simply COH without base building and with a hero player instead, that's pretty much it. Think of DOW2 as a full price expansion pack to COH with a DOW skin (that's all it really is), now i'm not saying it's bad, far from it as it's taking a fantastic game and making it look even better.Please Log In to post.
