I didn't see a thread, so I guess the question is, "is there any excitement for this" answer please.

I'm excited. Got the CE edition preordered, however I keep hearing that people in beta saying it isn't ready to be released yet. I guess we'll find out one way or another. I'm hoping it won't be a letdown like AoC.zomglolcats
really i heard the opposite from people in beta. But then again all really depends on standards, since MMO's are never really finished lol
[QUOTE="icey6ch9"]Hope u guys know that they removed massive amounts of content. A couple races no longer exist...icey6ch9
6 cities down to 2 and there are no more orcs
Are you serious? No Orks? 6 cities downt o 2? Wow... just wow.

Orks in the game, but main tanking classes not in at launch. Among other things. This is pretty sad. I'm definitely cancelling my preorder and waiting on this one. I'm not about to be let down again after AoC.
They took cities out yes which isn't really a huge issue and when Mythic says the game is better for it I actually believe them. If there were 6 cities at launch the "war" would be too spread out but for each faction to be able to compete to take over 1 capital city at a time it will make for more excitement.
The fact that 4 classes have been removed (2 order to destruction) is a bit well dissapointing. The reason these were removed however was because they were 'not fun' to play or so the dev's have said. And instead of leaving in 4 crappy classes they took them out, this saves them from having to delay the game further in order to roll 24 classes. But come on seriously 20 classes is still great and I'm sure we will see these implemented in the future when they are truely finished.

OMG! The incompetent Mythic I remember from DaoC still exists!

Well I don't take issue with them removing a few classes, but according to the article I've read, some races are left without a true tanking class. That leaves them at a distinct disadvantage, and in a game like WAR balance is everything. Half the reason people can't wait for WAR is because they are dissatisfied with the imbalanced WoW PvP. This does not bode well.

Yes Mythic is incompetent, but I truly believe that they wouldnt be doing these things to hurry up to launch if they werent bought out by EA. From everything I read about Warhammer Online, they really need a few more months of development time. DAoC was a great game when it launched, and that is one of the things that Mythic took pride in. We all know that EA has a reputation for being a bunch of bean counters that only think of making money and not great games.

It sounds like you are really setting yourself up for a dissapointment. This is a rushed launch. What is very likely is that Mythic took out that content because it wasnt done, and EA wouldnt hear about delaying the game again. What you are believing is very likely just damage control.

The cities weren't done so they were pulled, the classes were 'done' they just weren't good. I mean I don't blame them for taking them out if they are bad and reworking them for a later date, it's better than having everyone wait. And to the person who said that races are left without a true tanking class that is the case for the Dark Elves who lost their tank, but there are still two tanks on the destruction side, it isn't as though the races won't be mixed pretty well as soon as the game launches. The only way i would see this being a huge problem is for guilds who were planning on sticking to a single race, which of course puts a wrench in the plans ... but seriously it's kind of stupid to do that anyways.

Thats nice and a good viewpoint on the situation, but you arent listening to what Im saying. They took out some very important content that are staples in the MMO genre to meet a launch date. Sure losing two tanking classes might not sound like a big deal, but it was originally planned to have racial-based PvP. Orks always fight humans, Dark Elves always fight High Elves, that sort of thing. Since the classes were taken out, and if any races were taken out, this is likely taken out as well. As far as only having one main city per side, Im afraid that is a huge loss too. Anyone who played WoW and tried to go into Ironforge or Orgrimmar at launch knows exactly why.
What this will amount to is a rushed launch, which likely means a lot of bugs and unbalanced classes. This will turn off early adopters and cause the game to have a reputation of being crap. If you dont believe me, look up Hellgate: London. I was there for that travesty.

This is comming froma beta tester: Be sure you know what your talking about before you open your mouth. Trust me there are plenty of Player Orcs.
I guess we will have to see how it all pans out after launch, but I still don'tt hink that the loss of a tank class for any specific race will hurt them since there are still 2 more on the faction they are playing. All of the RVR will be mixed with all the different races anyways so the fact that one race doesn't have a tank specific too it shouldn't really affect the gameplay.whitey_rolls
You hit the nail on the head more then you will ever know :D
Ive been in Beta since the start and it has got some very good content, but combat isnt very smooth, graphics look dated (Retail might be improved) and in pvp ranged classes seem to have such a hugh advantage over melee classes.
My friend says hes going to buy it on launch but im unsure about it.

lambalot
if you were in beta you would've known that all closed beta tests were done with the settings fixed at the lowest possible...
Is it just me or do the graphics look very dated?
I am buying a new computer soon and I know playing a game for just for graphics is retarded but I am looking for a new MMO that is great AND has lated dated graphics. Trouble is what I define as great from a gameplay standpoint is usually not the same as the majority.
SEANMCAD
with the massive battles that are expected in WAR you can't have top notch graphics, peoples computers just wouldn't be able to handle it. From what i've seen it to me looks quite good visually. And I know myself with my computer I won't be able to max it out once the game launches (pc is in the sig) so I would say it will be better than AoC in regards to system requirements and how it will run but not much.
Can you still go to for example the dwarf place to rvr and quest even though there is no like... struggle for a capital city?MEOWWW123You can go where ever and do what ever. As for the city cuts, you people are taking the negative approach of it. It really was for the better, now everyone won't be so spread out, plus now both of the city's will have much more stuff to do in them. Also yes there are still orcs in the game, which is the tank (some dumbass thought they took out all the orcs, including the black orc). So stop with the damn crying, if you don't like the game then stop coming into the topic and looking at the news for the game.
After disappointment with Age of Conan i'm not so sure i'll be preordering or buying Warhammer Age of Reckoning upon its release. I haven't played the Beta but to be honest i'm not totally pumped to play yet ANOTHER fantasy setting MMO.
If perhaps the game was set in the Warhammer 40k universe then i'd probably have preordered it.
