listen to your freinds AoC is pretty much a dead game. It is still not finished..the first 20 lvls or so are as polished as can be, but it seems like the developer just gave up after that - everything in age of conan is broken, stats mean almost nothing, itemization is horrid, they havnt even released the pvp system yet (and its a primarily a pvp game). but on the pluss side the first 20 lvls or so in AoC are great for almost all classes which sucks u into the game...yet by lvl 30 u realise its horrible dont waste your time.
Warhammer is a fun game, solid pvp system right now with meaning, Warhammer reminds me of quirky pvp version of wow. Warhammers pve content is ok, some neat things in there like PQ but its a pvp game first and pve second.
AoC isn't even in the race anymore. So I'm obliged to say Warhammer.EdVader
As AoC is to Ron Paul, so Warhammer is to John McCain.
Sorry. I couldn't resist. :o

True enough.
If you're new to MMORPGs, you'll probably find either game fun. I would read up on the latest news for Funcom/Age of Conan, and decide for yourself. Most people will say, wait for Funcom to get their act together first before you start playing AoC or resubscribe. I would probably agree.
As for Warhammer, no one here can convince you man. You have to try it for yourself. It took my friend 6 months to finally convince me to play World of Warcraft (at the time I was playing Guild Wars). He finally got me in and I played WoW for nearly 2 years. I quit a while back.
Go out on a limb. Try it for yourself. Warhammer in particular is one of those games where it leaves you shagged on the fence. There's no trial version yet because the game is barely out, videos don't do the visuals any justice and screenshots look too good to be true.
There's too much WoW vs Warhammer debates going on, so your brain is scrambled and confused. And perhaps, my post will confuse you even more. Simply, try it for yourself. Word of advice, you can find a copy on eBay for aournd $40 with shipping included, if you dont want to spend the whopping full price. If money is no object, just get iit. Try it out.
I played AoC, I kind of regret buying that game, and I kind of don't. The graphics and the combat are amazing in this game, but that's pretty much all there is to the game. After a while the combat gets repetitive, the graphics are stil great but graphics don't make a game. The crafting system is terrible in AoC, travelling around the world is annoying and time consuming... it just doesn't flow well and becomes very boring at about lvl30. This game promised soooo much, but it barely delivered anything. I haven't played WAR yet, but from what I've been hearing it's good but really nothing special or new. This game promised a lot... looks like it didn't fully deliver either. It seems to have a lot of interesting classes, but seems to lack in graphics and is very buggy. WoW is the poor excuse for a game in my point of view... I'm so tired of hearing how it's a revolutionary MMO, everyone who is a real gamer knows Ultima Online made it all possible. If you're a 12 year or a girl you might enjoy this game. There really aren't many choices out there for good MMOs right now.amekhov
i hate that old "WoW did nothing new" bull crap. It was revolutionary, it brought the mmo genre to the masses. It made a casual mmorpg that anyone of any age or gender play and enjoy. NO other mmo had done this. It really doesn't matter what you think of WoW, seems to be the way for so called oldschool hardcore pc gamers to hate it and say its ripped off older mmo's. Fact is this applies to most games, you could say new fps rip off older ones etc. Nothing is really original anymore. WoW put the mmp genre into the mainstream and WAR is another game that will benefit from the success wow brought and the people it introduced to the mmo world.
WoW has done more for the mmo genre than every other mmo added together.

If that were true, AoC would be economically sound and profitable, while Warhammer would be dead broke with no idea why.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. :P
Considering how long AoC has been out now I struggle to see why it still isn't finished.
The game was patched to hell at the beginning, and still there are bugs.
I found the animation to be glitchy, I got stuck on scenery that wasn't there, Combat was over-complicated, all the number crunching for no reason seemed to be getting nowhere (You need 150 climbing to get up here soon followed by a quest where I had to increase my running speed, not something I tend to use)and Loading times between areas are pointless.
I found the vistas lovely to look at, but without a hig end pc it is an ugly game. My pc is pretty good, but to me it still looked bloody awful.
I'm a WoW addict, or at least I was until WotLK comes out, and at the mo I am playing Warhammer and I am impressed.
I've also played LOTRO and that was ok. Warhammer is the best I've seen since WoW and I can't see myself stopping soon.
AoC is old fashioned and unfinished. Go for Warhammer.
