I thought Nexus was a good site for mods and wanted to get some mods for Oblivion and went to tesnexus and registered then started to looks at mods to improve graphics and avg starts going nuts saying it stop this malware and this after that no .exe would work like internet explorer, steam, ect. I finally manage to get on the net to research the problemand thanks to a nice free software called Malwarebytes i was able to delete the bad stuff.

I remember reading that people went to nexus to get Mods and 10mins there and my computer is infected with all sorts of crap.

Anyway just a friendly warning not to go there.

Sorry but the cause of your problems is something else, I've used Elder Scrolls / Dragon Age Nexus for all my mods and have never gotten a virus. Im looking at the site right now with nothing happening...

False positives or complete BS, one of those two because thousands of people use Nexus on a regular basis and never get infected.

Well it happened when i was on that site and i don't go to many new sites. I rarely see any viruses why had no idea how to fix it at first.

Well it happened was looking at the pictures of a mod to improve the graphics for Oblivion said like 126pictures this is when computer went nuts.

I've downloaded tons of stuff off of nexus sites, never had a problem. Like everyone else has said, it's a problem on your end.

Like others said... Something else... I have literally been a member of tesnexus, fallout3nexus, and newvegas nexus since Oblivion came out in 2006... I have uploaded dozens of my own mods on there... And downloaded hundreds of other mods...

That website does NOT give you viruses.

This. I used Tesnexus to install roughly 70 mods into Oblivion, and I never had a problem with any of their files. I'm still a member.

I have DL'ed for FO3, FONV, Oblivion, & Morrowind. No problem what so ever with mods. I really think you are mistaken about the reason why.

Oh how easy you can be influenced...

Iam using the mods from Nexus website since they hosted mods for Oblivion...never got a virus from them...BUT thats dosent mean that every mod posted there is virus free...

I had a maniac friend who used to repack and upload cracks, mods, freeware filled with keyloggers and trojans...

So my assumption is that you have downloaded a mod repacked with a virus...from a guy just like my friend...a lunatic a moron...

Even if nexus web site is 99% virus free...there is still a small chance that some idiot would attach a virus to a mod and then make it public...

Be sure to scan everything you download via interwebz...especially ".exe" files....

Malicious ads on the site perhaps? Happens to a lot of sites, quick google shows it has even happened to this site before it seems.

I never downloaded a mod was looking at the pictures of one called weather something there was like 126pics in there. But this is what i'm guessing is i already had the malware and something there just triggered it. Thanks to Malwarebytes now i know i'm free of malware.

Anti-Virus, a little over zealous one to be more precise, but it's free :)

Also to add to the discussion, I have gotten AV warnings at the Nexus before as well, but it was one of the Script files from an Ad doing it. Only happened once and has not happened again.

as others stated it may have been one of the ads, and not the site itself, Ive never had any virus notifications from the NEXUS sites, but I did once from other quite reliable sites, usually turns out to be some ad. its a pain, but can atleast be solved.

Nah.. avast USED to be good. Now it's bloated and doesn't catch nearly as much as it should. MSE is better, but I think Immunet is best :D

It's possible that you could have downloaded a virus, but I've downloaded a lot of mods from that site and have never gotten anything bad from them. If you're really paranoid, just stick to the most popular ones.

Yeah yeah, show me charts all you want.. Avast let something through that was picked up by MSE and Immunet and Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro. All it takes is one slip for me to lose faith.
