Hey guys, I'm writing this a bit late as I picked up Spore the day it was released (quite a while ago now). But I'd been so looking forward to this game before it was released. Maybe it just ended up being a disappointment for me because my expectations were really high. Was anybody else disappointed with Spore?

I was. They tried too much at once. The customization and animation generation tech is great. The core game was lacking. It was like an over-simplified version of every other game on the market.

It was a lot more simple than what I had in mind, so yes, I was dissapointed.

I was very, very disappointed. I read the GS review and got excited, as they focused more on the creation tools. But after playing through the first 2/3 stages of the game, I got really bored. I made some cool air, land and water units, but the gameplay was crappy, and once I reached the space age, I HAD to stop playing. I have uninstalled it and re-installed Sims 2. Since then I haven't for once felt like going back to that game. I thought they might improve the core gameplay in a future expansion pack, but I don't think they have that creative direction--the announced expansion is nothing but some "additional creating tools" and stuff. Highly disappointing.

I wasn't hyping the game at all, so I played it but I found the game not so good and repetitive. Boring/shallow in other words. Not my type of game. Also let's not forget about all the bad press the game got due its copy protection scheme.

I enjoyed Spore with little disappointment. Only issue with Spore I had was during the Space Age. Too many sudden ecodisasters or raiding pirates became annoying.

I was disapointed with Spore. I found it to be a game that I could only really play for 20 minute strectches before getting bored with it. It was too much of making friends with other orginisms. I don't quite know what I wanted from it but what I got wasn't it.

I really got disappointed when I realized decking out my creatures with fancy armor didn't really matter. Same thing w/ vehicles. No matter how many cannons, lasers, missile launchers you put, they still fire one same projectile at a time. Uninstalled the game even before I reached space. I mean, I fell asleep once while playing it!

No it was as I expected. It's not so much a game in the traditional sense (a story, deep characters, set ending, etc.) as it is a fun toy.

I stopped playin it in a space part, just was too boring for me and I hadn't really any expectations so I wasn't disappointed at all... guys can you recommend me some building game.. I don't really have in mind things like simcity or tycoon games when you have to be the biggest bussiness dude Rockefeller under the sun.. more like spore.. or lego creator.. u know.. just to create things and have fun.. no fighting or straining... anyone?

well I was dissapointed about 1 year before release when it was known that they changed the gameplay to suit a wider audience, so at release I knew what to expect.

The only thing I was really dissapointed about in Spore was the few things we we'ren't told about before release: There's not much difference between the creatures. You can have a tiny blob creature with one spike who's just as dangerous as a huge monster with 30 spikes (the creature editor had it correct, but the last minute change killed it) The AI is extremely bad (or let's just say there is no AI in the game). Creature phase is a one man show, you walk in to a nest, kill them all, walk over to next nest, kill them all, etc, nothing to worry about. Tribe stage is AI versus player, the other tribes just ignores each other and doesn't play with the same rules as the player The "creatures" you create in cell stage are not reused, so every time you play the cell stage you see the same enemies

If it was a disappointment depends on how hyped you were.

The game is missing features and could have done better in certain areas, but I'm not angry at the game for it because I wasn't expecting the best thing since sliced bread like some people.

Frankly I'm more bothered by its poor usability, allot of repetition could have been avoided in this game with a few minor changes and content management could have been better.

Nah. I never expected much from it to start with. I wasn't even interested in it until saw it on a friend's computer at a LAN party.

Waited for 3 years, played for 6 hours.

Editors are good, but gameplay is really missing.

Its like a foundament without a house: It has a base, but the main thing is missing.

To me Spore was like the other Will Wright games I've played. It's fun for a little while but then it gets really old fast. I don't know, maybe some people really like designing their creatures and then the buildings and stuff but it seemed tedious to me.

i like to call it a great platform waiting for a great game to show it off. whats there is dissapointing overall in terms of gameplay and needs further development (especially the tribe and civ stages....they feel really rushed and tacked on). the new space expansion coming sounds like a big step in the right direction though. a new quest editor and the ability to get out of your ship (among other things) is really the type of expansion the game is crying out for. hopefully they have more expansions in the future that improve on the other stages also.

Well maybe you haven't learned to keep your expectations at down to earth. Games are never going to live up to the hype so don't expect them to. Just play the game and enjoy it on its own.

I love the game it's awesome, but only thing that made me a little disapointed was when you only could fly around in an space ship doing nothing, But after the other spore (expansion or idk) that gave you permission to build you're own planets, animals, buildings to put on the Planet.. i got very suprised :D

Think its an awesome game, not many games gots this kind of Gameplay we're you can build you're own planets and stuff!.

It was very played out once you reach a point in the game where yes, you can form a tribe a pick fruits and burn down villiages, but your not doing anything new when you simplify

it, just eating and interacting. You can damage an empire all you want, but you are still biting a cell's ass at heart

It was worth the 8 GS gave it, which made it a disappointment in my eyes.
