Ok, So I just ordered my computer and I was looking for a second opinion from someone possibly with a better tech background than myself. I Paid $1,200 for this setup. Intel Core i7 Processor i7-2600K 3.4GHz 8MB QUAD CORE (unlocked cores) INTEL COPPER HEAVY DUTY LGA 1155/1156/1366 COOLING FAN Asus P8H67-M LE B3 REV 3.0 LGA1155/ Intel H67/ DDR3/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&GbE/ MATX Motherboard 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Hitachi / WD 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB CACHE SATA 3.0Gb/s 22X DUAL LAYER DVD-RW W/LIGHTSCRIBE ATI RADEON HD 6870 1GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/2-MDP CrossFire PCI-EXP Video Card REALTEK 8-CHANNEL DIGITAL SOUND ONBOARD REALTEK 10/100/1000 Gigabit Network Card (onboard) BCC VOYAGER MID-TOWER ATX ( x 2 ) THERMALTAKE/ANTEC ULTRA-QUIET CASE FAN THERMALTAKE 600 WATT HIGH PERFORMANCE SLI/CROSSFIRE POWER SUPPLY I-MICRO 103 Keys PS2 Basic Wired Keyboard Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit P.S. Also, part of the $1200 is for professional wiring and the application of extra thermal compound. I also realize the power supply isn't too huge, and if I upgrade my computer much Im going to have to swap it out, but do you think it will be enough to power it as is?

That PSU should be just fine. Looks like a good computer. If you had built it yourself you could have gotten a bit more performance, but that's not too bad a price considering it's prebuilt for you. I foresee tons of posts saying "You should have built it yourself" but I still see a great computer there.

Yes on 1 and Yes on 2! "application of extra thermal compound" = Means what?, the only part who needs to be put together with therm paste is the CPU and it should have that on the Stock HSF pre-applied, they should not charge extra for that, but the deal seems good for the money apart from the thermal paste part.

Thats good to hear. And yes, I could have built it myself, but i feel I may not be fully ready and it could have done more harm then good at this point, I will probably try that with my next computer. I was also thinking if I really needed extra processing power, i can grab a P8P67 motherboard that allows overclocking

Sorry I wasn't very clear with that, They have the standard factory paste, but i paid an extra 15 for them to use OCZ/Artic 5+ Silver thermal compound

I'd actually say thats a really good price for what you got. I'm surprised it is prebuilt at that price honestly. You are going to have a blast, enjoy!

Sounds like a pretty awesome setup. At $1200? Even if you did pay more, it probably wasn't too much for the convenience of already having it built. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Yup.

not really. the only difference is the locked memory multiplier and 1 discrete graphics card. his powersupply doesn't even really support 2 graphics card anyways http://www.anandtech.com/show/3871/the-sandy-bridge-preview-three-wins-in-a-row/3

He has a 2600k but cannot overclock due to the H67 chipset.

If he had a mobo with two slots, than he can squeak by with 6870 cf setup, unless of course he overclocks heavily. Nevermind all that that with h67 micro board :( Still is pretty sick with a sandybridge cpu nevertheless.

from what i read in the anandtech article, it says that only the ram speed is locked so that means you can still overclock the cpu

he must have bough a Pre-Build Customizable PC or Preset at some place only reason what so ever H67 was in that thing anyway H67 is capable of overclocking allot for CPU but still miss a bit of MT so it can't fully OC AS P67 but Close Like instead of reach 4.5ghz he might only reach 4.3Ghz

heard H67 doesn't have full Multi like only 95% forgot the article it also as less VRM which automatically reduce the potential of OC but it shouldn't be a Big Deal

he over paid as high as +350$US then newegg.com / Microcenter.com Own Build Method : mean if he ad build the pc together is self or get it assemble at somep lace he would ad a more Awesome video card

IE : HD6950 2GB OC / GTX 560 TI OC and P67 From Asus / MSI / Gigabyte and 8GB OF DDR3 1600mhz C9 For the price he paid and probabely a 850W in sales : found a 850W for 95$ AFTER MIR from Thermaltake last month how ever you got a nice pc still :) better luck next time TC not that i want to bash ur joy or anything

Don't get GTX 580 : Get Two GTX 560 TI OC :P or HD6950 2GB OC for the price of a GTX 580 much more performances and ur still picking something from overpriced place like i said i can find 750-850W from 64.99$ (750) and 850W as low as 90$-110$ After MIR and there high quality

Those Warranty Kind of Biased Because almost all part in a PC is 3 - 7 Year Warranty and when youg t Hardware Issue you just ship to RMA it not justifiying a such high price for some Extended Warranty that you can buy

anyway if you sure ul want to tag along with the very same hardware piece for 3-5 year you can alway purchase Extended Warranty plan if you feel it gonna Break
if you buy from XFX (For GPU) it Lifetime Warranty +1 = You can sell on ebay and he get the same warranty as you

And I don't Find XtremeGear optical mouse Looking that Great for gaming :P if you want some good mouse pic some Logitech Gaming grade mouse Like the G series or Razer or Cyborb R.A.T if ur in that sort of mice

First, you didn't list prices. Second, you forgot the OS. Also, 4GB of ram is outdated nowadays. I go over 5 playing Civilization 5.

4GB not outdated lot of peopele run fine with 2GB with 1GB GPU tough 2GB is outdated still performing good in lot of game even in today test 4GB to 8GB is Still a minimal gain if you don't own more then 2GB OF GDDR5 GPU IE : CF HD6950 2GB / SLI GTX 570 :

the most important part in PC remain GPU & Motherboard & CPU : Ram play minor role in lot of test it seem to show : 4GB 1900mhz High Cas > 8GB 1333Mhz Low cas

but if you got like TWO HD4870x2 (4GB OF GDDR5) then you need 8GB OF Ram to fully use all is power n run smooth and alt-tab fast : I don't know if anyone else can confirm this but i remember test where tehy did show CF & SLI that surpass 2GB OF GDDR5 Memory and they found that 8GB Is a essential when going over it

IE GTX 590 who as 3GB OF GDDR5 it sort of essential to get 8GB OF DDR3 for 64 BIT OS

That is a very nice PC for that price. The only things that concern me are, what brand of RAM did they use and Hitachi HDD's are garbage so don't be suprised if you hard-drive fails either after a couple months or 2 years. Other than that, you got yourself a very nice PC, you didnt happen to buy it from Newegg did you?

Meh I could have done that build under the 1000$ mark, but if you don't know how to build a computer and don't want to learn, it would work I suppose.

Yeh... not everyone has a .edu address to begin with, 10 mins eh? care to prove that? and that includes a aftermarket heatsink and all lights/connectors must work.

it ur first time doing a rig can take about 3 hour it what it took me but now i know everything about pc so i can get it done in 40 minute without rushing thing at all but you need a long table with all the hardware on it first the mobo and cpu :

Step 1 Take a quick read in motherboard manuel for first time notice if some jumper must be change and if you know where is the AAFP & USB supply for Front connection to ur Computer chasis

Step 2 it should take about 10 minute to remove all part of the box : put on table put piece together in order then the heatsink & thermal paste about 5 minute if ur good

Step 3: the ram 20 second once you know which is A1&B1 for dual channel (2x1GB/2x2GB/2X4GB)
Step 4then come the time to mount the 9 Screw of the mobo to the computer
Step 5 : find out where is The Audio For Analog Front pannel connector : USB front pannel connector : plug the ATX12V 24 pin : put the supply to the fan's :
Step 6 get the video card in : plug the video card : Plug the HDD With Sata Cable
Step 7 install the OS : you're done

I don't know where bough is pc but for 1000$US

I did manage to get HD6950 2GB / PSU Thermaltake BlackWidow 850W for 95$ AFTER MIR / A HAF 922 / 1TB HDD spinpoitn F3 / 2x2GB DDR3 1600mmhz / Window 7 64 BIT OEM : one time use only 100$ : Cpu Cooler Hyper 212+ And Bough 2 Fan at about 70CFM : Asus P8P67-ATX & Core i7 2600K

add ur self another 220$ and you got a gaming Grade mice : Keyboard : and 1920x1080 Monitor 23 inch

You forgot cable management. My PC is nice and tidy. Can barely see any wires. :) Like it or not, it can't be done in minutes.
