Well, I'm certain your rig will be able to run FEAR and GW at max. I would say GW for value, as there is enough content to keep you playing it for quite some time. The nice thing is that GW is pretty easy to put down and then come back to. I probably only play GW 5-20 hours (maybe, if I have a bunch of free time) a month, and usually it's more around the 10 hour mark.
FEAR is a lot of fun and even after you beat it, if you're like me, you'll enjoy replaying it again and again. (I have a few saves right before some major firefights for quick fun) The gunfights in FEAR are amazingly awesome and it's a game I replay rather frequently.
Can't comment on CoD2, as I haven't played it. Not a fan of WWII shooters. :/
whenever someone makes a what should i get thread and gives a selection, my answer is usually: what do you want to get?
and i don't like to go against the grain - what do you want to get?
if it's lifespan, you can't go wrong with guildwars - if you're happy to sit and play a game night after night while everything that makes you a person is slowly chipped away and the new you that the game carves for itself is an empty shell of a person, a walking guildwars encyclopedia - then get guild wars! (nb: preceding paragraph to be taken light-heartedly)
f.e.a.r and call of duty 2 are the two best shooters of 2005, and both easy contenders for top 10 shooters of all time... while i love them both, i'd say get call of duty without question or pause, buy it right now - go on, order it online, i'll wait for you to get back.. you got it? good
f.e.a.r is easily the most love or hate game i've ever seen on the pc, it pretty much split the pc gaming community in half, half loved the crazy hollywood style firefights, spectacular (really, amazingly awesome) ai and stunning visuals, the other half hated the repetitive and limited enemy repertoire (ranging from clone soldier to big clone soldier to clone soldier again) and hated the bland, been-there-done-that-ness of the warehouse followed by office complex followed by warehouse of the environments
i'd say get f.e.a.r, but statistically, there's 50% odds of you hating the game - so try a demo or test it at a friend's house or something, because you really need to know before you try - myself, i'd say get f.e.a.r and call of duty 2, forget guildwars - wait for hellgate or guildwars 2... but if you want a rpg or a full blown professional time-eater, guildwars would be the better choice
i have a feeling, though, that you probably already know what you want

fear at max? WRONG..
but runnin fear on medium is possible, and fear is the game id go with
[QUOTE="BewilderedRonin"]]Oh, crap. Nevermind. For some reason I thought I read that he had a 7800GT. Which would be handle everything at max. I run FEAR with all but shadows maxed out @1280x960 and I only have a rinky dinky X800Pro AGP. Still, you should be able to get med/high settings with your 7600GS.Well, I'm certain your rig will be able to run FEAR and GW at max.
