Right, sorry for the spam of threads over the last few days I know you guys are sick of them but a mod still hasn't authed me on xtreme systems to spam them instead :P.

Anyway, on topic. I'm ordering a 220 ultra apex kit in the next few days aswell a a thermaltake armor. I'm going to mount the rad in the front of the case and use the 2 x 120s as intakes, aswell as the 120mm on the HDD cage at the bottom.Thentheres the side intake and the back exhausts.

My question is do I need anything besides the kit? I'm going to try to set up a t junction for easy draining of the system. I've read guides on setup and ect but I'm yet to find a concrete one on maintenence.

How often will I need to change fluid? How do I go about this? I heard the fluid with the kid is quite crap. But wondered what I should use? I'd prefer to use blue fluid but do I just use something like distilled water + additive + dye? Or what? I'm a bit confused on this. If anyone can point me to the right products on OcUK or SCAN I'd much appreciate it. I'm leaning towards either a blue or black coolant.

I'm going to mount the pump on the base (does this require screws?) or do it just stick using sticky foam stuff? The res will go on the side of the HDD cages so I can see it through the window.

Do I REALLY need to clean out all the parts using distilled water? Since thats alot of distilled water... Otherwise will I get cloudy tubes and algae? How do I clean this out ect?

To sum it up, I'm looking for advice on maintenence, and coolants. That, and if my setting up will work?

faser is good coolant. You should check the system fluid levels about once a month just to see if you need to top it off. I dont think you really need to clean the parts with distilled water, try searching http://forum.overclock3d.net/index.php under the liquid section they are a huge help.

I've found 1 liter of black feser coolant that has all the additives I'll ever need in it :P. They sell 1 liter bottles, will I need any more than that?

well, you change it like every monthi i think??? i think..

and just use colored fluid if you are going to put LEDs and all that stuff, so it will glow like a car :D

if i were you, i should put screws for confidence

if you get algae or something like that...replace the tubes, or just pump water (get the tubes out and pump water to get it out)

o and also SEARCH THE LEAKS if it has a leak POOF bye bye expensive system, you need to have patience, dont rush your work

well, i think thats all

If I change it every mounth, how do I go about draining the system? I mean I can't just ppull out a tube, it'll go everywhere...

About to order either tonight or tomorrow since it's late.

All I need is my

  • swiftech H20 220 Ultra apex kit
  • Thermaltake Armor
  • 1 liter of feser black/blue UV reactive coolant
Do I need anything else? I've heard of needing a backplate if it's not included in your kit ect?

You dont have to change fluid every month if ever. You just have to keep adding more fluid to the system so it doesnt run dry.If you want that UV reactive fluid to glow you will need some UV Cold Cathodes but I dont think the UV black will glow very much.

I just clean it every year or so when I see performance descrease... usualy with alcohol.

I have 2 pumps that are not screwed in... so it's not really needed.

In general, I advise against buying coolant. Go to petrastechshop.com, buy some PTNuke, and blue Pentosin. Mix the pentosin with distilled water, then put it in the system. Afterwards add 3 or 4 drops of Nuke. This will give you slightly better performance and also cost next to nothing. You shouldn't need to worry about topping off water levels (where would it go anyways?), so long as you properly bleed your system before hand.

For help, search the liquid cooling forum over at XtremeSystems, not [H]ardForum (boo!):)
