A lot of games are available on some sort of digital purchasing like steam or direct 2 drive. I don't really know any other way of getting games legally if all you can find is pirated goods.

You can send money to the devs! Since you don't get the distributed copy, I don't think the publisher should get anything. :P

Sounds to me like you'll need to wait for reviews to be out on games you are thinking of buying and make a decision then and import what you want.  You are going to have to make some tough informed decisions on what games you want.  I also dont like to say this but if it is say a single player only type game you won't be playing online buying the pirated copy might be your best answer.  You have access to the nat so read up alot on purchases you are considering i do that and i live in the US.  Nobody wants to spend money on garbage or something that isnt fun.

You can still get decent prices from overseas as long as you find someone with reasonable shipping rates. Just wait for the game prices to drop a bit in order to compensate for the higher shipping. Another good option is Ebay but make sure you read the shipping costs before you buy.

I also think that your neighbor, India, should have a very large selection of modern electronics but I am not 100% sure. If they do, just make a road trip there and buy what you want then come back.

I find it fascinating how you can afford a nice PC with nice hardware, but you're forced to pirate the software.

Piracy talk on these forums = no. Period.
