because i mostly go stealthy i use silencer and therefore choose assault rifles cause silencer decreases the range of guns. but now i tried out the scorpion+silincer which has an extremely short range and i can still shoot enemies across the whole map. so it looks like the range of guns has no real effect in this game, is it a bug or what ?

I never really understood what "range" is supposed to signify in the first place. I never found myself shooting at someone, no matter how far away they were, and not getting results. Maybe it refers to the weapon's ability to penetrate materials as the target gets farther away (i.e., scorption may not even be able to penetrate metal sheets if you're across the map from the target). Not sure, but I'd like to find out...

i think the penetration of walls depends on the weapons class not the range cause i always penetrate walls with a machine gun but never with a smg even when i stand in front of a wall. with smg i can only shoot through thin surfaces like wooden doors.
