Latley when i play some single player stuff not online like Quake 4, unreal tournament 3 demo, and even age of empires 3 sometimes when a big load is coming up it kinda lags for a second. For example when a new area in quake 4 is coming it lags a bit or when a lot is going on. Why is this?LaNoOm
I believe it is the PC loading new data into memory - possibly a hard drive read or transfer of data to the graphics card memory - correct me if I am wrong. :?
I still think it's a hard drive reading. I have 4 gigs of RAM - Crucial Ballistix, too - and once and awhile I still get a brief lag.
[QUOTE="chimera1984"]usually caused by some crappy process in the background, i get it sometimes and usually find out that the explorer.exe is hogging ram or something.LaNoOm
Could be, but I have 2 gigs of ram though.
If I truly had to guess, I'd say it's 2 seperate problems here.
The Purple water, and possibly many other graphics mistakes (like Artifacting, discoloring, and texture ripping) is due to your videocard. The earlier 7900 cards had some sort of voltage error, and their graphics memory corrupts, resulting in the above symptoms. My current eVGA 7900GT has been doing this for a while, but I'm too poor or cheap to get a new one (plz donate to my vidcard fund!:D)
As for the lag, I'd say it's your memory loading off something new. Otherwise, the two problems are actually the same.
