Ok, so I once bought a 1 GB stick of RAM, let's just say my screen went black with white letters, that were random, almost like the matrix, when I put it in, how do I know what RAM is good for my PC?

What motherboard to you have?

If you don't know you could always use the Crucial system scanner. The scanner will tell you what you need.
