I need to replace my x1600xt, and I'm a poor college student so I have about $120 to spend. My other specs are c2d 2160 @2.8ghz, and 2gb of ram. I do have a decent 500 wattfsb psu with 36a on 2 12v rails. If there is a power hungry bargain card. I just want to play Crysis, HG:L, and UT3 very well on my 27 in lcd tv @1366x768.Thanks guys

I'd go with a MSI 8600GT 256MB. You'll probably get mostly high and some medium, judging by how the beta plays on my machine.

X1950Pro dayaccus007

I would reccomend that, but Crysis will probably play better on Nvidia cards. I might suggest waiting for benchmarks of the demo before buying. That way, you'd also have more money after saving up. Demo comes out on the 25th.

It uses a lot of power and generates a lot of heat. You're covered for power, but I have no idea about your cooling. Either the X1950Pro or the 8600GT would perform better, though.

Nay, even if it did produce a lot of heat with the money he saved (so around $25?) he could buy an aftermarket cooler for the card and then be able to oc too :D

I'd go for a 7900 GS. I don't recommend a 8600GT, I heard it runs worse than the 7600GT.

well, not really worse, but not much better.

I'd go with x1950pro or 1900gt with additional cooler or 7900GS if you can get them

You get pretty good performance with the X1950pro or 7900GS, but I'd wait if I was you... if you can wait until the 4th quarter when the new 9 series cards come out, we'll see some nice price drops.

I think I'll go with the 1900gt and add a cooler if I need to it would still be in my budget with a $30 cooler. Thanks for your input guys.
