[QUOTE="mbukste"]Actually its closer to between the 7800GT and 7900GS...blurb1324
Which is excellent, because if I remember correctly, it draws about the same amount of power as a 7600GT.
Actually 8600GT consumes only 43 watts (Thus the insane OC'ability) while the 7600GT consumes 65W.http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=385&card2=513
7600GT runs about the same as the 8600GT on older games (HL2, CoD2, etc). 8600GT is better for games with heavier shader requirements (Supreme Commander, CoH).
As for overclocking. The 7600GT has a known volt-mod that allows it to get up to 620/850. I'm not sure if the same is for the 8600GT.
7800gs or unfortunately in some cases, 7600gt.imrlybord7
Makes no sense, because the 7600GT is better than the 7800GS.
The 8600GT performs something like a 7800GT, a bit better or worse depending on the game.

Nope, they consume about the same amount of power. Around 40Ws.

Just for arguments sake that's close to what the OC'dXFX 8600 GTXXXis out of the box. I still haven't tried to OC it more though to see how high it would go but some reviews I've read are favorable.
My GPU experience...What are ya saying,an 8600 GT should do well with quake 4.But 640 x 480??????
I have a 512mb 6800 GPU on my old PC (Win XP Pro on a sempron 2600+) and a 256mb 8600GT GPU (Win Vista on a E6320) on my new rig.
I can only run Quake 4 on a resolution of 640 x 480 on both GPU's/rigs. :shock:zenzen
Hmmm actually i am buying a new PC and am thinking about geting the 8600 GTS.Your comments worry me though.
zenzen must have like 2 kb of ram or glitchy softwareimrlybord7Oh man i feel relieved. If that guy was right i may had just drop the idea of buying a gaming PC.

An 8600GTS performs better than a 8600GT, I've got the 8600GTS and can play allot of games @ 1360X768 on High settins and most of the time maxed. Games like FEAR:EP, Company of Heroes, Bioshock all maxed out. "zenzen" has a very crappy computer which is why he can't run the game past what he described.[QUOTE="Thinker_145"]What are ya saying,an 8600 GT should do well with quake 4.But 640 x 480??????[QUOTE="zenzen"]My GPU experience...
