In game music. Every game I tend to turn off the in game music. The same sound is played over and over and over again and sometimes its a tune I dont really care for. Its just extra noise to me while trying to focus on playing the game. Fallout 3 was the best forum of using in game music.

Stupid design decisions. For example, they still have that idiotic level-scaling in Fallout 3. Other examples include limited saves.

GTA IV isn't for everyone, but one of the cool things about it, is that you can have your own music files be played in the game while you're driving around.

My biggest annoyance about any game is bugs...It annoys me that games are often released before they are properly tested, ie truly finished.

  • Poorly ported control scheme (from console) and/or inabilty to remap keys
  • uncooperative third-person camera.

either of the two can cause an otherwise good game to be annoying as hell to complete. :x

The music annoys me too, on certain games it will not turn off. But some games the music can be good, like GTA IV. And when I am playing a multiplayer game, it's when people won't shut up or they argue over stupid things.

Poor voice acting and animation - nothing worse than characters as wooden as trees

Cheaters - more of an annoyance brought about by people than an actual gaming annoyance

I'd have to say sound issues. Example in Mass Effect, I couldn't hear the dialogue because the background sound was way to loud. Some of you probably know what I'm talking about. I downloaded the latest audio drivers and after I couldn't hear the guns shooting. Same thing happened to me in Fable. Oh and awkward controls like in Bioshock. I had trouble even playing Bioshock because the aiming was so weird. In every game I always go for the head but it was impossible in that game.

I agree with most of the things already stated. But one you all have missed or maybe it doesn't bother you; time limits! I hate those things at any time. I'm a casual kind of gamer. I like a hot firefight as well as anyone but I like to explore and find everything I can when it's done. The feeling I'm rushed reallyticks me off.

I agree somewhat. In some FPS games it's alright, like the ones we want to beat fast to find out what that hype is about. But same we want enjoy, linearity is incredibly annoying. For example, Medal of Honor: PA is amazingly linear and henceforth sucks.

I am not against Intro and exit movies and those are really needed. But in-game cut scenes should be skippable.

I know FPS games have plain blindfire gameplay thus not require any complexity. But if you take RPG and Adventure games, linearity sucks. :P

-not enough checkpoints, so youll have to start a mile away from where you are if you die

- unskippable cutscenes that you've seen b4

- stupid AI engine

- hiccups and glitches

- when the game practically holds ur hand throughout the whole game

... I'll be adding to this soon.

Extremely unrealistically hard AI/challenges.

I don't mind easy AI, since you'd at least finish the game rather quickly and give it a poor rating due to lack of challenge. However, if you get one of those games where its exceptionally tough even on easy/default settings, where you have some random human boss wearing a singlet(ie no body armour, superhuman resistance) or whatever that takes 20 rockets to kill but kills you in 2 hits, or a timed event/jump/avoid falling object that requires timing down to the last millisecond. Those games really piss me off cuz you have to reload 20+ times and maybe finish it eventually, sure you can call it "challenging" but i call it "not fun"!!!

Stupid design decisions that are made to prolong game play, like having a quick save. Of course, Call of Duty 2 didn't have quick save, but that game was such a free flowing experience and it didn't really frustrate me.

GTA 3 and Vice City really annoyed me. Although I enjoyed the games immensely, the fact that I could not save during missions and the character would die for reasons such as falling in a puddle made me want to quit it. Everytime I lose, I have to start at the safe house, drive to the mission, which was frustrating as hell.

Like a few others have already mentioned....lack of quick saves or a save game option of some kind.....Games with ridiculously long check points or none at all, where when you die are sent back to the begining of a level and must start over again......:(

The most annoying thing in a game (aside from it crashing allt he time) are in game cinematics/dialogue you cannot skip.

I cant tell you how many times ive tried to play assassin's creed and had to give up because of the obnoxious dialogue

I agree with alot of the things mentioned already and would like to add:

--dumbed down or 'casualized' ie. games that are too easy (even on higher difficulty) or have stripped out/down complexity

--too short
