I am currently planning on getting Vampire: The Masqurade - Bloodlines, Dark Messiah: Might and Magic, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Are there any other action RPGs that are good? How is Gothic 3?

Not sure how Gothic 3 holds up, but here are a bunch more Action-RPGs that aren't on that list of yours.  Then again, maybe you've played these before:

Titan Quest
Sacred Gold
Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction x-pack
Diablo
Dungeon Siege
Dungeon Siege 2

Well, I have played the Diablo series, but I'll look up on the others, thanks.

Arx Fatalis wasn't bad, nor was Gothic 2.

I'm gonna quote that. Arx Fatalis was fairly enjoyable. Might want to look that up. Good dungeon crawling first person action RPG.

Well...just remember that DoMM is action game , not action RPG :) Anyway...good action-RPG...Gothic series is amazing, but I would recommend starting from Gothic1, then G2 and only then moving into G3(especialy since it will give more time for patches to come out). Also Arx Fatalis is great action-rpg. You might also be interested in Boiling Point and Ultima IX(just like with vampire...get alll the patches). Now from those games where you don't directly control the character aside from obvious Diablo I would recommend Sacred, Dungeon Siege (especialy the first one because of incredible Ultima: Lazarus mod), Icewind Dale 1-2 and Titan Quest.

Dark Messiah is a FPS game not a RPG.

Sure it has unlocks but that does not make it RPG.

Well, Dark Messiah kind of reminded me of Oblivion. I didn't mean to classify it as such, but rather put it in that "type of game" description. I'll see what I can get and check up on the games I haven't tried out. Thanks again.

If you liked the Diablo series you owe it to yourself to try Titan Quest.

Why do people always recommend such old games when it comes to the PC. It's always games from 3 years or more ago. Doesn't the PC have good recent games?

Older games were recommended because the OP already listed the up-to-date action-RPGs.  So, it's kind of hard to recommend newer games when the OP is already getting them.  That being the case, you gotta dip into the proverbial well of the tried-and-true.

Gothic 3 is great. I recommend it, but be wary of the Gothic series. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. But it's always worth it for the sheer sense of freedom and exploration that Gothic brings...

Yeah, Gothic 3 looked interesting, but many reviewers were kind of harsh with their statements. I'm sure it's somewhat a good game, and not that terrible. And as far as the Diablo comment, I don't mind if someone posts old games. I have the Diablo series but it took me about a year and a half to two years after the release of the first one to get into the series. And thereafter bought the sequel and the expansion pack. So it's possible that people can miss old but good games.Â
