Ok I recently got a new laptop and went through a lot of modern fps games, but now I am totally sick of them and want to move on. So I was wondering if anyone could help me to find a single player preferably linear oriented story. Since Im actually craving a story, im tired of open ended games. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly, Ive already been through games such as: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Assassins Creed BioShock Fable Fallout 3 GTA IV Wc3 TFT, Diablo 2 and SC.. as well as WoW doh. Please help Sims 3 as for system requirements, Im pretty sure I can handle anything on max settings. Fire away.

first off, ur gonna hate oblivion because it is the definition of open ended, i dont think there is a way to do all of the quests in that game, there is just no end, even after 100+ hours of gameplay. bioshock is a fps, so thats out of the question. good story, the original kotor. the witcher is good if you like really long and slow rpgs. armed and dangerous (i think thats what its called) from lucasasrts was hilarious. hawx? rpgs seem to be the best choice, cept there arnt that many good ones right now. neverwinter nights 2, but it kinda gets slow on you.

Drakensang Neverwinter Nights 2 The Witcher Mass EffectBorn_Lucky

Co-sign all the games he mentioned... plus I'ill add Kings Bounty and Divine Divinity.

Drakensang is very underrated in RPG talk imo.

Also try Empire Total War

If you want a good story with linear gameplay, get yourself some adventure (in the classic sense) games. Look into ScummVM and all the goodies you can run with it; of which I would suggest Full Throttle, Monkey Island (1-3), and perhaps The Dig.

Tired of open ended games?

So, you'd rather play static, small trial and error maps in opposed to dynamic mission

Let me guess you prefer 2D games too

Nothing wrong with linear games... or 2D games, for that matter. They have their certain advantages.

Im tired of open ended games with no set storyline, but one you have to make up yourself with a character that isnt even developed, usually with no name. I just went through oblivion, BioShock, Fable, and Fallout 3 all pretty open ended. Just need a change, bite me.

Depends on what you like. You could try Final fantasy (any will do but i put my choice on 7 or 8), it has great story, even if you might not like combat. Saints Row 2 is a fun and funny game someone might want to lose some steam. For platform 2d game, you might try first two Oddworld series, im not sure hot it is to play them on PC however. On the other end You have Spore, which is a decent game, i only liked it trough first 2 stages of evolution. My last suggestion is to wait tight having fun with gauntlet FPSes like Painkiller and Serious Sam 1. It is up to you.

The Witcher isn't open-ended, the game ends together with the end of the main storyline.

Baldur's Gate 2 (oldie but a goodie)

Mass Effect

Dawn of War 2

Vampire TM: Bloodlines

The Witcher (I didn't like it my first time through, but i'm giving it a second go.)

Dead Space

Wolverine Orgins (it's good mindless fun. As for the story, hey it's better than the movie.)

Mirror's Edge (which you can pick up for $5 atm at gogamer.com only for the next 15 hours though)

Cryostasis (it's first person though, first person survival horror)

It's been awhile since i've been wowed by a game's story tbh.
