I'm running Crysis at 1080p at High settings and it's a bit frustrating since FPS dips too much when it comes to intense battles, it still looks good but very demanding. What are other PC games that are visually good but not demanding? I've heard Metro 2033 is amazing (graphics wise) but is it demanding like Crysis?

Just Cause 2. It's a beauty to behold that doesn't have over-the-top requirements.

What are your pc specs? To improve performance you should try some custom configs i highly recommend ccc 2.21 its will improve your performance and give you higher graphical quality then stock settings make sure to install the TOD mods and don't bother with the difficulty mods as they mess with your power regen level 4 of the mod is what you should install seeing as your having trouble on high settings. I use lvl 5 with my 5770 + i7 920.

As for games that look great and don't reguire high specs Highly Recommend Mirrors edge which is on sale on steam right now for $5. Also Devil May cry 4 my old 8800gts 320mb could handle it at highest settings with out no AA at 1920x1200 and maintain 60fps and looked great. Also Batman AA looks fantastic as for Metro 2033 isn't very demanding in dx9 my current pc handles it just fine with the framerate staying above and around mid 40's most of the time at high settings and the game looks stunning one of the best looking most detialed games i've played. Textures are the best i've seen in a game and lighthing is amazing. trying to run the game in dx11 at high or very high with tessalation and deph of field on is where it takes alot of gpu muscle and really the visuals trade offs aren't worth it but if you have the hardware to run it at those settings more power to you.

Metro 2033 is even more demanding from my personal experience. Ubisoft games like Assassin's Creed series looks great and don't kill your PC. The Prince of Persia games. But why play games only for looks? If a game sucks, it doesn't matter how pretty it is. But okay.. Just Cause 2 looks great and it isn't too demanding either. Far Cry 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Resident Evil 5, Need for Speed Shift.

Just Cause 2, FarCry 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games with their respective "complete" mod, FEAR 2, any CoD games (though BOs runs horrible on some PCs), Left4Dead 2, Mass Effect 2... that's all I got off the top of my head.

Psh, TC. You've got a PC that will kill my modest rig and you're looking for "good-looking, not demanding" games?! Here I was all ready to recommend something like Tomb Raider: Anniversary, as it ran well and looked great on my previous card--an HD4200.

They could be considered aesthetically pleasing but SC2 can be poorly optimized and is quite demanding at times on ultra settings.

Because it's an RTS? it can be quite demanding because it's demanding not because of bad optimization. They're great, artistically but not advanced when it comes to graphics, yes, Just Cause 2 and Mirror's Edge are some of the best looking and not that demanding.

You have a really fast card so i dont know why you have problems Anyway in Crysis enabling AA even 2xAA especially in 1080p takes a really big hit in performance so disable AA leave everything else at Max and you should be ok

Im going to agree with some of the other's on dirt 2, that game runs very smoothly, i can run it at average of 63 fps with 8xaa all maxed @ 1080p so your gtx 470 would tear through it. Batman AA as mentioned runs great as well maxed with AA, bc2 also seems to be well optimized although havent gone into the mp yet

I didnt term it "poorly optimized" because it is an RTS, i said that because it is poorly optimized. The game is very heavily CPU limited, yet doesnt event take full advantage of two cores. There are many RTS games that look much better and run the same or better, EG: Company of Heros, World in Conflict, command and conquer 3, Supcom

I think SC2 also suffers from some sort memory problem too. As some of you probably know, some campaign levels slows down inexplicably at the beginning when there aren't very many units yet. I don't know if that's been resolved though since it has been a while since I looked into the issue.

Beautiful but not demanding? That's easy:

  • Trine
  • Braid
  • Machinarium
  • Aquaria
  • Osmos
  • World of Goo
  • Torchlight
  • Zen Bound 2
  • Sacrifice
  • Disciples II
  • RUSH
  • Shatter

What's that? Oh, fine, fine, here are some more "advanced" titles:

  • Darksiders
  • Just Cause 2
  • Bioshock
  • Section 8
  • Batman Arkham Asylum
  • Dead Space
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Prey

Hope that helps. :)
