I'm looking for some good f2p games that have come out recently or that are highly recommended or very popular. Examples: Path of Exile--high quality Diablo 3-esque RPG known for its player races and massive skill tree. Card Hunter--tabletop card battler that stands out from the crowd with charm and being self aware (you play in a basement with your friend Gary, who acts as the game master for the campaign levels). List more please! Looking for things that are high quality but aren't massively known (like League of Legends, Runescape, etc.).
Pitch Smite to me: What makes it stand out from other MOBAs?
The perspective, easily. It isn't top down,its 3'rd person WASD movement in the lane. Keeping track of targets means keeping them in your line of sight, and combat is skill shot heavy. You also get to play as many different gods from all sorts of legends.
Tera went F2P a little ago and I just picked it up, visually its amazing and the combat system is very unique and engaging.

Meh, most MMORPG's are un-inspired and bland. If I'm gonna collect quests and kill mobs I want to have some fun doing it, Tera is the ONLY mmo I've played where regular questing and combat isn't such a bore. And I've played WoW,Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, GW2, EQ2, SW Galaxies and probably infinitely more, and TERA is the only one that manages to feel different and stand out from the rest. IMO of course.
Blacklight: Retribution is a good team deathmatch shooter, Warframe is a good single player / coop shooter, Star Conflict is a decent space fighter sim, Airmech is a fun little strategy game with transformers, and Team Fortress 2 is a fun team shooter to play with friends, though it sucks playing by yourself.. I didn't like Planetside 2 nor Tribes Ascend. Planetside 2 is purely pay to win. It sucks getting sniped by someone so far away that you can't even see them on a 1080p screen. And I didn't like the feel of the controls in Tribes Ascend, and the environments in Tribes are very, very bland...
Thanks for suggestions. Keep em coming folks! I'll add a couple more I've played: Warframe: It's very fun as others have said. It handles like Mass Effect and the graphics are AAA-worthy. It has the potential to be a superb game that's held back by the fact that the only thing to do is queue up levels and kill. And kill. It's super repetitive but good for short bursts. Forge: A third person pvp brawler like Lord of the Rings Conquest free on Steam now. Honestly it's disappointing compared to the hype it garnered last year, but worth a check.
I have pretty much tried every(almost) f2p game available on steam and out of them all I had the most fun in Tribes Ascend so I would highly recommend that if you like shooters.
