What are the odds of a new Counter-Strike game?

Can we expect a new Counter-Strike to be announced at E3? I really haven't been following Valve in a while and was wondering if anyone knew if they have any plans of bring a new version of CS out anytime soon?

Other than that, what other games are you guys looking forward the most for PC at E3?

The likelihood seems to be pretty decent right now since Valve is supposedly working on it and just announced a "surprise" in place of their E3 Portal 2 event that they have confirmed won't be Episode 3. So it'll probably be CS2 or DOTA7.gameguy6700

It's been confirmed not to be the DOTA thing and Gabe asked everyone last year whether they wanted to see CS2 or Portal 2 first, so I'm guessing that they were working on both at once. :)

I still don't understand why they would make a new one when the old one is still alive and kicking (though, it has begun to slow down), and they are making that big update for it. It doesn't make any sense to make a new one.

Doubt it

They're updating it to the newest version of Source I believe, as well as adding a bunch of achievements. They're giving CS:Source a reboot.

lets look at it this way css is the only real steam game that needs updating graphically, TF2 looks great still and we know its not half life, l4d2 is still new, so unless its something completley new i think it will be css

I know they are working on the large CS:S update coming within the next few months (hopefully, if beta goes smooth), but it would make sense. Adding all these features and achievements now, years after release, just in time for a new CS to come out yet keep enough interest in CS:S. They could also just be updating Source for the heck of it, but sounds like a reasonable guess.

Although I am with a few other people, it would be nice to see a new IP after the same series for so long. Portal was a nice change of pace, and I hope Valve has more tricks up their sleeves regarding new IP's in the future.

Episode 3 has already been shot down.

It's probably not going to be, but god if it was.... A Source 2 / HL3 announcementon E3 would probably cause me to crap my pants upon reading the news.

I remember seeing work on a counter strike 2 a year ago or so, the project might have been scratched or something if theres no new info :/

Man, I hope its Counter Strike. That is imo the best gun game ever made. The Modern Warfare series has nothing on it.

In the coming years? more than likely. at E3? Probably not because of the updates they're working on at the moment for CSS, but you never know.

CS2? I would imagine that to come out with HL3 since CSS came out with HL2 and CS with HLMrLions
