Just wondering, as I was pondering over whether or not to start playing it.

No it's not a system hog. It's very well built. I have a ATI Radeon X1650 256Mb with a 2Ghz dual core and 2G of RAM. I can run the upgraded version on highest settings at 1280x1024. It's pretty nice.

The system requirements aren't real high, and there's even 2 clients, one for classic and one for premium graphics. http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=124 From what I know I wouldn't say it's a real system hog, but I've never tried running anything in the background. Again it's pretty scalable so you should be OK. But I would recommend doing the trial first since the game definitely isn't for everyone.
