Some developers haven't announced a new game after their last release. So the big question is, what are they working on?

I'm really curious about what Blizzard are working on.
I read an interview somewhere a few months ago that they where ready to announce three titles after the new year. So I'm hoping the announcement is just around the corner!

One of the new titles is definitely the next expansion sett to WoW. (Not really a big surprise).
But what are the other two?

Personally think it's really about time we got StarCraft 2!
Or maybe Diablo III? (If we're lucky!) :D

I was also very curious about Firaxis for a long time, but they just announced Civ IV: Beyond the Sword!
And damn does that sound good!

What game companies are you woundering about, and what games are you hoping for?

I read that Bethesda are finally going to focus on Fallout 3 after the release of Shivering Isles, so i'm *REALLY* looking forward to that. I can almost feel the radioactive desert wind in my face again...

Unfortunately I have heard that it will be both real time and a first person game like Oblivion.  I am sooo hoping it's not as that would ruin it completely.

First Person? Real Time?! Blashpemy! I don't want Oblivion: Wastelands, gorrammit! I'm pretty sure that alot of Fallout fans will react badly to this, as i have. Sure, the graphics engine could be used to work wonders, but doing such a drastic change is a huge risk. Also, i hope they make the story good and the characters interesting, because i felt that those parts were lacking from Oblivion, fun game though it was. Anyway, we (read I) shouldn't get worked up over such things quite yet, we haven't even seen any screenies or gameplay vids yet.

I'll give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt and reserve my judgment for when the game actually comes out. I know I will get blasted by purists and traditionalists, but I think Fallout could work really well in first person, and real time is the only way to go nowadays in RPGs. I just hope they manage to keep the excellent atmosphere, setting and ingenious ideas Fallout 1&2 had...

Personally, I'm completely comfortable with Bethesda moving Fallout to an Oblivion-esque feel. That is a much more immersive perspective in my opinion. The atmosphere is what is most important about the Fallout series, and that is the best way to acheive the atmosphere. It'll still be a great game.

I remember reading some rumers a few years back about a Jedi Knight game using the Doom III engine.
Never heard anything more about it though...
And the consoles are getting "The Force Unleashed", so we should get a new Jedi Knight game!

And reguarding Fallout 3.
There's not even any consept art out, so no need to jump to conclusions just yeat. :)

I wish there were other Jedi Knights games as well, and hopefully Diablo 3.

I cannot imagine why there wasn't Diablo 3 till now anyway...

What game companies are you woundering about, and what games are you hoping for? therog2

relic - dawn of war is my favourite rts ever, and after the sublime company of heroes, - which i acknowledge as the better game, but do not like as much for the setting - the next dawn of war game (hinted at in the ending video of the recent dark crusade) is going to be completely exciting

i'm hoping for massive, large scale combat like supcom, only infantry oriented like dawn of war (the way warhammer 40k battles should be fought) - they promised us a 2007 announcement, so i'm just counting the days

i'm also really interested in the creative assembly's next game - medieval 2 expansions not included - we've seen feudal japan and we've seen imperial rome and we've seen medieval europe twice - what's next on the list? i just can't wait to find out

i'm also eagerly anticipating news of monolith's next game - i wasn't a huge fan of lith's games prior to fear, but fear blew me away in every way, so i'm looking forward to whatever comes next

it's too early to add this, probably, but i'm hungry for news of gcs gameworld's next game too - stalker was terribly flawed in many ways, but the company must have learned much and stalker has seen good sales in all major western countries, so hopefully they now have the skills and the finances to put out some really great games over the next decade

i could keep this list going for years

There are rumors of Star Craft 2 as blizzard hired staff to work on an unannounced RTS game.

There are also rumors of a Red Alert 3 which has been rumored since 2004. Only time will tell.

THQ are working on a sequel to Company of Heroes which looks awesome.

Bethesda are working on Fallout 3.

You can bet EA will be working on an expansion for C&C 3 sometime in the near future as well as their usual sims crap.

Is that because an expansion might only take them 2 or 3 years to make and you don't want to wait another 6+ years for a sequel? :P

I heard they were already working on Fallout 3 but its not being made by anyone from the original team but instead by a new team in which not all of them have even played the originals. It looks like a dark day.

How can you assume that any of them havent played the original game?

I read a small article about Soldier of Fortune 3 in PC gamer back in early to mid 2006, still havent heard anything about it. All a google search found is a petition with 13,000+ signatures found here http://www.petitiononline.com/soldier3/petition.html

I read in a Computer Gaming World (now called Games for Windows) that Call of Duty 4 would be in a modern setting and is being made for pc. Now it was just a small section of info... but yeah. It's what I read.

Here we go!

...contacted Blizzard about this, but the developer is remaining tight lipped for now, saying they are "not ready to reveal any new projects at this time," but that they do indeed "have multiple unannounced projects in development and are exploring various options for the future of our franchises."
