I loved that game. Played it on my gravis gamepad...ah, the momories. I'd have to say my favorites would be anything made by Sierra before 1998.

Since I'm not sure where to start, I'll just list them alphabetically. I'll stick to games at around 1998 and before.

Abuse
Alien Rampage
Bio Menace
Blake Stone
Blake Stone - Planet Strike
Blood
Commander Keen (episodes 1-6 & Keen Dreams)
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
Crusader: No Remorse
Crusader: No Regret
Crystal Caves
Dark Forces
Descent
Descent 2
Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem II
Duke Nukem 3D
Half-Life
Heartlight
Jazz Jackrabbit
Jazz Jackrabbit 2
Jedi Knight
Jill of the Jungle
Lemmings
Lemmings 2
Major Stryker
Mega Man X
Myst
Outlaws
Raptor
Riven
Secret Agent
Tyrian 2000
Wolfenstein 3D
Xargon

I've been playing System Shock for my first time lately. I'd rate it at about a 9.0 at this point, definitely another worthy addition to my favorite oldies list.

Hope I didn't forget any others.

EDIT - Like Cosmo. :x *adds*

I was hooked onto PC gaming by two games in particular.

Command and Conquer 1, and Hal-Life 1, and I've now got all the Half-Life Games, and every single Command and Conquer game bar two.

Good times :).

I think I'll start with the most nostalgic. -Wolfenstein 3D (Who HASN'T played this at some point?) -Doom (This goes without saying.) -Commander Keen Episode IV: Goodbye Galaxy! (Remember the Dopefish?) -Lemmings (Quite possibly the most ported game ever?) -F-15 Strike Eagle II (I was horrible at this title, but I was also of elementary school age back then and thus didn't understand half of what was going on. I still have yet to re-visit it, though, since I'm in the middle of trying to master Falcon 4.0.) -Jazz Jackrabbit (Ah, the good old days of Epic Megagames.) -Jill of the Jungle (...I need to play this again before coming up with a good comment.) -Crystal Caves (I remember this game giving me trouble at some points.) -Secret Agent: The Hunt For Red Rock Rover (This game's similarities with Crystal Caves are numerous...) -MegaRace (Not a particularly spectacular game, but the FMV bits can be charming at times. "Don't want to get arrested for taking the law into your own hands? Not a problem. Why? Because it AIN'T REAL! It's virtual television - reality's worst nightmare!") -Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds (My favorite of all the Bullfrog Studios classics, and my personal fourth greatest game of all time.) -Raptor: Call of the Shadows (Vertical SHMUP goodness. What more can I say?) -Tyrian (I played this on someone's Windows NT computer a long time ago, and couldn't remember the title until a few years ago! In any case, it took everything good about Raptor and improved it tenfold.) -Descent (It's a shame that I wasn't introduced to this series in conjunction with the Spacetec SpaceOrb 360. That controller and Descent go hand-in-hand, hence why SpaceOrbs came with Descent II demos.) -Quake (Again, who HASN'T played this?) -Rocket Jockey (This game deserves a modern remake. It's just too unique to be forgotten.) -Duke Nukem 3D (*insert random quote here*) -MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries (A friend of mine introduced me to MechWarrior 3 at his house, and then I found MW2: Mercs in a thrift store. I picked it up and was not disappointed in the least.) -System Shock 2 (I bought this game on nothing more than a mere mention in a magazine article...and got what would be one of the greatest games of all time!) -Trespasser (This game is to 1998 as Crysis is to 2007, only even more technologically advanced and punishing on systems for the time! It could have used some gameplay tuning and bug-fixing, though.) -Unreal Tournament (I would spend all of my time on a server named "[DAMIT] Strangelove Map Only", trying to get through SLV Assault race maps. Those were the days...) -Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters (Okay, so why isn't this one higher in the list? I didn't play it until UQM 0.4.0, and I'm kicking myself for that since this is quite possibly the best damn game I've ever played...even over System Shock 2, and that's no small feat.) -Starflight (I investigated this one since it got a lot of mentions on the UQM forums. It pretty much set the stage for SC2, though I haven't completed it since it's a good bit more difficult when it comes to trying to find everything.) -Exile (I wouldn't even be able to play this game were it not for the help of a little gem of a program known as WinUAE, simply because I have never been fortunate enough to touch an Amiga or any other computer with a port of this game on it. While the physics are well ahead of their time, there's no denying that the puzzles in this game wrack even my brain...) Of course, that was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to classic computer gaming for me... (Finally, while I like the first two Thief titles, it's not in the above list simply because I don't have Thief Gold and refuse to play through the copy of Thief II on what also serves as my Deus Ex DVD until I fully complete the first game.)

Doom - the best FPS of all time. Ultraviolence + shotgun = heaven

System Shock 2 - genius. FPS/RPG horror masterpiece.

Theme Park - take your rollercoaster tycoon and stick it. Theme Park is the best theme park themed game ever.

Worms - brilliant game to play with friends. Great sense of humour (though more recent versions are better, the original Worms is still amazing).

Cannon Fodder - fun game with an awesome sense of humour.

Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe - the only future sports game I've ever seen that works. Amazing game.

Dungeon Keeper II - very cool game that's a lot of fun to play. But like all Molyneux games, it's broken.

Half Life - one of the best games ever made.

Prince of Persia I & II - two of the best 2D platformers ever made.

Civilization II - still the best TBS I've ever played.

Sim City 2000 - more recent versions are better, but Sim City 2000 is a must-own if you like old games, or city building games... or games.

Anything built within the Doom/Doom II engine (i.e. Doom, The Ultimate Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, Doom II: The Plutonia Experiment, user .wads, etc.).

I just only recently played Episode 4, Thy Flesh Consumed for the first time in my life... nearly 14 years after I first started playing Doom II. And what an episode!

I did as a matter of fact. I didn't get to finish it though. It was good I'm not doubting that but it was a bit of a search for keys type game. I like Thief a lot better.
