It is an interesting mixture of artistic design, evolved gameplay mechanics and a great new application of an exciting and underused technology. It's also an exciting new way of bringing the community to the singleplayer as an integral part of the singleplayer experience.
But it also looks like a string of shallow minigames to me. I'll buy the game and try it out, and probably get ten hours out of it. I suspect its major draw (for me, at least) is its novelty. I also expect EA is already planning a billion expansions for it, none of which will be worth the asking price.

Half true, half wrong. There is going to be a constant stream of stuff going to your comp as long as you are on-line, as SPORE takes most stuff from server. And there is hardly something to expand in what appears to be final version of game. (the one that ships)

I'm not sure what the first half of your paragraph means, exactly. I know that new stuff is downloaded from the Spore servers from other players, so the universe just gets bigger and bigger, but it gets bigger and bigger with what is essentially the same thing over and over. Once you've seen it once, the novelty is lost.
As for the second half of your paragraph, your naivety is amazing.
