I guess comic books count...

War of the Rats (the book on which the movie Enemy at the Gates was based). Sniper Elite comes very close to what I'd like to see, and I love that game, but something a bit more.... tactical, more calculative, something with deeper gameplay and deeper story and meaning would be nice. Also, Sniper Elite features a spy behind enemy lines, so if this game could make the atmosphere of all out war more pronounced (i.e. you have a distinct Russian side and a distinct German side), that would be nice too. I imagine that a multiplayer for this game would be tense as hell too - if it's done well to avoid a necessity for camping.

There's LOTRO. I can't wait until they add Gondor and Moria. LOTRO seems to be doing well, so it should only be a matter of time. It's a dream come true :)

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. It would have to be more of an interactive movie/adventure game like Fahrenheit but if done well, would compliment the novel amazingly.

As long as they keep the number of rocking dick statues to a minimum, I think that would be a very good idea...

Kubrick's film is far more sexual than Burgess's novel. That is one of the main reasons Burgess didn't like Kubrick's film. That and it left out the most important part in the last chapter.

Sorry for going a bit off topic, but which part was that? About a year passed between the time I read the book and when I saw the movie, but as far as I can recall, I didn't notice any inconsistencies between the book and movie in the closing scenes.

If they put alot of money into the Harry Potter games, I dont see why they shouldnt be great but they suck sooo. My next choice would be like a modern Dracula. Thats a great book and would make a great game.

I think it'd be tough to pull of the same feel of the novel. Also, I don't know if the story itself really lends well to an interactive medium. Would the game come with a box of drugs to take when your being conditioned along with Alex? :P

A song of ice and fire by George RR Martin

I mean there already are the NWN and Rome Total War mods, but I'd like a complete RPG based on the books, even if it was not set in the same time period as the books. It would be kin of cool starting off as a deserter of the Wall and then just letting you go in Westeros and maybe then expansions for the rest of the world

Dune!!! I'm not sure if this has been done before, but dune is one of the richest universes in existance, both in bredth and lenth.

I also agree with one of the above posters about enders game, but only the space sim portion.

Like many others here have mentioned, a Dark Tower game would be awesome, gunslinger would also make a great movie, cant believe it hasnt been done.

I would also love to see a RPG of the Dragon Lance Chronicles, one where all the main characters are playable within a teamCo op based game, magine Rastlin, the mage character......Tanis, the Archer Character......Sturm, the Knight character, Tassoholf , the thief , Caromin the tank etc , etc....the bookshave everything and i would love for it to be developed, sadly all we get is a animated movie thats due to come out that looks kinda sub par to me.....

There have been at least three Discworld games already.

Anyway, I would definitely want to play a game version of Snow Crash. It would be perfect!

Indeed, an RTS, TBS, RPG of ASOIAF series would be nice. Especially an RPG, as it can be another medium of learning more about the rich world Goerge R.R Martin has created.

It depends on which publication of the novel you have read. Certain older versions of the American publication have the last chapter removed by the publisher which is what Kubrick wrote his screenplay off of which might be the reason you notice no inconsistencies.

I think it'd be tough to pull of the same feel of the novel. Also, I don't know if the story itself really lends well to an interactive medium. Would the game come with a box of drugs to take when your being conditioned along with Alex? :PAlaris83

No actually, I think it would probably come with a bit of synthmesc that you can toss into a tall glass of the old moloko. :P

Fahrenheit really didn't have very many actual action scenes outside of the button mashing stuff. I think just having a little free-roaming world around Flatblock 18A and the surrounding country side to bring out a itty bitty of the ultra-violence. Then in the second half of the game, you could have to do more of a Fahrenheit styIe reaction time thing in the prison and half to use different dialogue sequences to try and get the Charlie and Governor convinced enough that you should go for the Ludivico Treatment.

It would be a fairly linear game in the sense of the story but if the dialogue is written in the nadsat styIe and perhaps some of Kubrick's (inspirational of course) filmographic flair is added to the game world, I really think it would be a dobby sweet bit of entertainment.

Oh yes, and to add another to the pile but perhaps not as a game but a film... Glenn Meade's Brandenburg would make for a great action/thriller. Just thought I would mention it as I quite enjoyed it.

These are some oldies but I'd love to see the Stainless Steel Rat or Thieve's World books turned into a game. Also Bill The Galactic Hero could make for a pretty entertaining game.

i can easily list2 dozens of literary works that would provide a cool premise to a video game....however, the thing is, i don't see how the industry is capable of capitalizing on that. pop-novel and teen lit, maybe.......truly outstanding titles? no freaking way.

It would become such a gimmick I'd think since it'd be more based around the movie then the actual book which is different in some important aspects. If done right it'd be excellent but ESRB would just slap an AO on it.

The DUNE universe would be fricken awesome. I know they already have some, but if they put Relic and Ironclad on the job, an RTS-ish game (Kind of like Company of Heroes + Sins of a Solar Empire + Spice Mining sim. :p) set in the DUNE universe could be a masterpiece. While the Dune setting is definitely ripe for another game, I'd rather see a different genre of game, such as an RPG.
