Forgive me for being completely in the dark here, but I have been out of PC gaming for a while now. I just got a Sony Vaio NS190J/S with the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800

4 GB Ram

Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500HMD

Windows Vista w/ Service Pack I

Windows Experience Index for graphics - 3.8

I recently purchased Age of Empires III and am running it on max settings fine. Its Windows experience index recommended is 3.0.

What exactly can I run here? I was looking into getting Bioshock, but I don't know if I can run it. Please help me out and don't say I "need a new graphics card".

Thanks,

Michael

Yeah, your video card will severly limit your gaming abilities. You could play some older games though, like half life.

How is it in the wrong forum? He just wants to know what games he can? It's in the right forum.

Here are some games you should be able to play:

Call of Duty (the first one)

Serious Sam: The First Encounter

System Shock 2

Deus Ex

Fallout 1 and Fallout 2

Hitman Codename 47

Hitman 2 Silent Assassin

Half Life 2

Pretty much anything under 2004.

You can play Sins of a Solar Empire, it was designed to run on weaker computers while looking great at the same time. It is a great game, I highly recommend it.

I was using srtest but is it accurate?

It says that I cannot run Age of Empires III but its Windows Exeperience Index is a recommended 3.0 My Vaio is at 3.8 and I am running the game on max settings and it does fine. Once again, how about Bioshock or for that matter Fallout 3?

Also, thanks nightwraith.

He has a laptop, can't be upgraded. And read his post, he said no "get a new graphics card" replies. And no, srtest isn't really all that accurate. Try yougamers.com.

I don't mind the recommendation on the card, it is just that I don't want to be flammed that "your laptop sucks".

So you really can't upgrade a laptop?

As for Sins of a Solar Empire?

I can guarantee you you are not maxing out AOE3 with those specs... I call your bluff. BTW, your laptop cannot be upgraded, you probably should have asked about it before buying it. I don't know how many people post here asking about their laptop after they bought it and always ends up having an integrated gfx card and they can never play any semi-modern games and they all end up with sad faces by the end of the day.

maybe Doom 3 - that was a while ago. Anything 2003 and under...

wait - what was all that about Hard Drives and RAM being related? They're two seperate pieces of hardware that do 2 entirely different things....

Ok... no bluffing on my part, my system runs AOE3 fine. With Doom 3 are there any vista issues?

No way. You must have something other than integrated intel to be able to run AOE3 at all high.

ASK_Story

I don't think you can run those. Sorry.

Um, my brother's laptop with a GMA X3100 can play Sins of a Solar Empire at all high(a step down from very high), no bloom, no AA, res 1280*800. Like I have said Sins of a Solar Empire is designed to run on lower end computer, while looking good at the same time. The GMA 4500HMD is also better than the X3100

When I last looked on the Windows Experience I believe it said 2.0 to run Sins and 3.0 recommended, while Windows Experience isn't precise it still gives the user a general idea how it will run.
