You can't get a 30" monitor and a box powerful enough to run all games at decent settings at its native resolution.

Huh? Spending a lot is easy... Try with SLI video cards, dual socket motherboards, SAS RAID hard drives, dual large monitor, surround sound systems, water cooling, extreme edition CPUs... whatever

2 EVGA 8800 Ultras will run you about $1300. Go from there. :)

$2000 is not enough for...

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 ($1,100)

Gigabyte GA-X38t-DQ6 ($350)

And getting great RAM for this CPU and Mobo config could finish the job if you want 4 GB. And if you can get by under $2000 with the RAM, add video card, and you will definitely pass $2000.
