Try Warrior or Mage?

Do you want to fight alot of upclose stuff with swords? Or use more magic? Thats all you really have to ask.

well, if you're new to the game and TB chessboard combat, I'd suggest you to start with Warrior. if you want the challenge right away, go with Mage.

To sum it all up:

Warrior:

Pros:

Has the most Rage (this affects how often troops do criticals and Rage points are used when using Rage Powers)

Has the biggest Leadership (Leadership affects how many troops you can have hire or have on the battlefield)

Has 2 Weapon slots (That is a good +, at the later parts of the game when you get the best weapons that is a whooping +10 to attack)

Has exclusive Warrior only skills which improves the army

Gains the most strength runes (this things can be used to buy warrior strength skills eg: more rage points, more damage for army etc..)

Little to no tactics at all its all about brute army force for this class (both a Pro and a Con)

Cons:

Low mana so spell casting is very limited

Little to no tactics at all its all about brute army force for this class(both a Pro and a Con)

Will waste lots of troops during battles that means that shop will usually be low, now this is VERY bad especially since shops DO NOT restock on army that means if you lose rare troops (like black dragons) it will be hard to restock on them. Death on an entire battalion of troops is quite common with claas.

Needs the most gold, since this class can have the biggest army not to mention will lose lots you may find your wallet a little light during the early parts of the game

Conclusion:

The Warrior class is strength in numbers and more of overwhelming the enemy and making use of Rage Powers to win a battle and requires little to no tactics so is great for beginners, however losing much of the army including rare troops and gold is a negative for this class (although you can use certain Rage Powers to help certain troops survive).

Recommendation:

Use this class since your a Beginner and you know little to nothing about King's Bounty (unless you played it at a friend's house)

Mage:

Pros:

When used properly you can have very few casualties in winning a battle.

Can cast spells multiple times in a round (battle is turned base and spell casting is done once a round but for the game he has skills that enable to him to cast up to 3 times in a round)

Has the most mana (so more spell casting)

Gets the most Magic runes (Use this to buy Magic Skills such as stronger spells, increasing the level of your spellbook etc..)

Doesn't use as much gold as the Warrior

2 Artifact slots (you will learn more of this in the game, Artifacts are the equivalent of charms of Diablo 2 and in King's Bounty they have a huge boost)

Cons:

Least army (he has small Leadership so you will have to be more strategic with this class and use unit boosting spells to help your troops in battle for full effectiveness, unfortunatly 1 false move...)

Least Rage (so less Rage Power casting)

Needs the most Magic Crystals (these are used to upgrade spells) - unfortunately there are so many spells each unqie and has both benefit and consequence unfortunately a lot of them need a lot of Magic Crystals to upgrade (eg:Level 2- 10 Magic Crystals, Level 3-20 Magic Crystals) so you will have to choose your spells wisely there isn't an infinite amount of Magic Crystals in the game (you can buy from a certain NPC but is VERY expensive)

Needs more strartegizing (if your lazy and just want attack, attack, attack without any strategy then this class isn't for you)

Conclusion:

The Mage is more of a tactical class and you need to use your head and strategize this may seem like a lot of work but when it pays off, it pays off BIG TIME.

Recommendation:

Choose this class if you want a more strategic flow of the game

Paladin:

2 words, utter crap. Tries to be both a Warior and Mage yet fails at both, his only good thing is he gets the Most mind runes and does extra damage to Undead and Demons. But for the most part this class is crap.

in addition to the above "walkthrough" info, playing mage, you need to be extra careful when leveling up -- which ability and spell to gainand improve upon. there's virtually no exp points and crystals to spare and waste. (thusly, better pick this class after you're more familiar with game).
