Unfortunately I don't have unlimited amount of money, I have a budget of about 1600 euro (2000 dollars). I thought of getting the Dell XPS M1710 or an Alienware M9750 but it seems underpowered for the price. Any suggestions?

As you guy don't seem to have any recommendations could you tell me which is better?

Alienware M9750:

17" 1440x900

Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66Ghz 2mb cache 667mhz FSB

512 MB Nvidia Geforce Go 7950GTX

2x1024 667 Mhz

160GB 5.400 U/min

2.0 mega-pixel webcam

1800 euro

Dell XPS M1710

17" 1900x 1200

Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0Ghz 4mb cache 667 FSB

256Mb Nvidia Geforce 7900

2x1024 667 Mh

160GB 5.400 U/min

1600 euro

The alienware has webcam and a better graphics card and the dell has a better processor and price. I am totally unsure. They are nearly the same size and weight so which would you guys say is better?

For gaming laptops suck, I mean do you really have to have a laptop because a desktop would be cheaper for that price and much more powerful.

Well I would sacrifice not bringing it to peoples houses, and leave it at my house while I have a 8800GTX in there people can come to my house.

Although I am no expert in laptops by any means, just by doing a little research, I would pick the Dell. For an extra 200 euros you get a slightly better graphics card, but slightly worse cpu, and it just doesn't seem to be worth that extra 200. Now if you have the money, then the alienware probally would be better, but the Dell is still close to it and for alot less.

I still would consider getting a desktop because with that amount of money you get a machine that is close to twice the power and could probally max out almost every game that comes out in the next few months. But if your determined to get a laptop, my choice would be the Dell.

I hope this helps.

I'd definitely go with the Dell - higher resolution on the monitor, a better processor, and a very acceptable graphics card all make for a better machine.

and a battery made by sony......i really wish people would stop recommending dell laptops...the recall list for exploding batteries is getting longer by the day..... if you truly want a gaming laptop dont get it from dell. get it form here http://www.falcon-nw.com/ if you can afford it ; )

Unless you absolutely NEED a laptop, don't buy one, get a desktop, it is a cool though, to game anywhere, but not worth the price and the unability to upgrade much, go for a desktop, you'll thank yourself later.

cheers

That laptop isn't going to max out games, infact I don't know any gaming laptop that can (at a stable 30+fps)

well here is the deal 7950GTX>7900gs, and 1920x1200 is good, but your laptop will struggle to have good FPS etc, way faster then 1440x900.........i have the m9750 and its awesome:) get it
