runs a wireless network  just like a normal router but no kabels. :)

It's a way of connecting computers (usually to the internet) without wires, simallar to wireless telephone

then you don't have to run a wire to your computer your computer will get the signal its kinda point less to get one unless you have a laptop or your wires are running everywhere around your house which i doubt they are

Some devices like Pda's and the nintendo ds can only be connected through a wireless connection.

another reason you might use one would be if you have 1 computer connected to the internet and you wanted a second computer connected to the internet without having to run cable's all through out the house you could just do it wirelessly.

 

It's allso very usefull if you want to chat on the internet while your taking a hot steamy dump, like i am right now.

A wireless router, basically allows you to have more than 1 computer on the internet all through the same Cable Modem wirelessly. In order for this to work, you will need a wireless router that connects from the cable modem and second you will need a wireless adapter on the computer which will be accessing the wireless router.

Well, I'm trying to connect to XBL. So, if I get a wireless router and the network adapter for the 360 it will work?

You have to configure the username and password (for dsl), after that it should work

I think if it's a cable modem you just plug it in and thats it. (not sure about cable)
