So many of the skills are so specialized, I think there needs to be more than 8 skill slots. On that note, having capture signets take up slots is just a really poor design decision IMO.

I have mixed feelings about how fast you reach the level cap in that game, especially when there is no real reason to make another character of the same class (unlike in a game such as Diablo).

Obviously, I like that there is no monthly fee. I like that the PvP has a central role in the game without them just doing a half-assed single player campaign. On the other hand, I feel like the desire to not have players be overpowered in PvP due to having better gear also makes the PvE end game less compelling.

I like that you can play with different builds without starting all over from level 1 (and the way the skill system is set up, it is practically necessary), but again, this diminishes the replay value of PvE.

No auction houses or anything like that = annoying.

Really, though, I think my biggest gripe with the game remains the fact that 8 skill slots feels just a little too constrictive, especially considering that every character also has a secondary class. I think maybe they should go with 12-16 in the sequel, if they even do skills the same way.

what i like -

1.) sophisticated gameplay with unique yet perfectly balanced classes and a colossal set of skills and conditions. playing as a mesmer is one of the rare few moments in which i really need to use to my brain in a game.

2.) great art design. ( art, not graphic )

3.) fantastic pvp that blows most market competitors away.

4.) solid enemy AI, also something rare in multiplayer.

5.) my guildmates. :)

what i dislike -

1.) even though i like the overall quality of the community, the game has its share of spoiled brats and whiners. chat spamming is ridiculous is that game, even worse that WoW, if you can imagine that.

2.) due to its nature, free world content in the game is minimal. the game is mostly made up of instances and the only reason to roam the world is to grind.

3.) quest dialogues are poorly written. then again, dialogues in most multiplayer games are.

4.) my guild master. sorry mate...but you really are a piece of work. :(

what i like:

1) Great Storyline

2) Henchmen System (yeah, they can be a little retarded but at least you can call them it and they dont reply)

3) Graphics, while not the best the design of each instance is brilliant

4) Level cap (20 is abit low but i will agree to that, however I prefer 20 to the soon-to-be 80 on the new WoW)

5) PVP system

6) Seperate instances for different people (Im fed up of being rez killed on WoW)

7) Polymock (Soz if I spelled it wrong)

what i dislike:

1) The occasional n00b who thinks he is the best because he reached 20 for the first time

2) You cant duel people

3) The rarity of money

4) Rediculous prices people set for things

5) You cant jump, swim or climb (soon to be fixed)

6) The lack of an Auction House

There are a bunch of interesting points made here. I'd have to say what I chiefly like about GW is 1. Good PvP system. You can jump in early and learn to be effective, but you can really hone skills for hundreds of hours as well. Trying different builds, different classes, different arenas, etc. Much more skill based and hardly equipment based at all. 2. Skill system. I like the way there is no perfect build. You have to be strong somewhere and weak somewhere else. I think the limited skill slots is good for that reason. Makes it so there's little of the class imbalances. Although a lot of skills get nerfed, there's generally good builds for any class. Skills usually get nerfed when it becomes so powerful that everyone is just copying a certain build or every good build includes a certain skill. I still think the balance is better than any MMO I have played. 3. Single player storyline and mission system. Okay, the story is NOT the best, but it may be the best storyline of any MMO I've played. The instanced missions at least try to tell a story. Gives you something to do besides "kill X Ymonsters," "kill monsters and collect X Yitems," "go to Xarea and find Ynpc," "take Xobject to Ynpc." Don't get me wrong. There's plenty of this boilerplate as well, but at least the missions TRY to tell a story. (even if it is often a little all over the place) And they do give you something a LITTLE bit different to do. Things I hate about GW 1. The player community. I find the players in GW to be immensely immature and irritating. I only really made friends with a couple of people in my guild, and I was still having to /ignore people in my guild because they were so annoying. Pick up groups are DEAD AWFUL. I always tried to play with my (rl) friend, my guild, or hechies/heroes. Then again, I only rate the other MMOs I've played SLIGHTLY to MODERATELY better than GW in play community. GW does seem to have an exceptionally immature player base. ***Banal Paragraph, Skip if Weary*** That's it I think. Other than that, I'd rate it about the same as other popular MMOs. There are the obvious differences like no-monthly-fee and zone instancing, which are just the flavor of the game to me. Obviously, persistent world is desirable, but I think the instancing is what makes the no-fee thing possible, so I just call it all square with pay-to-play MMOs. Everything else is pretty much equal, I don't like wasting all the time, but I do like powering up my toon where others can see and feel my power. I like the idea of meeting people even if it does't always work out. etc.

Likes:

Henchmen/hero system, Skills/build system, the fact that it looks great and has decent requirements.

Dislikes:

All instanced, No auction house/bazaar, level cap of 20 which takes very little time to reach then on top of that, so much content for 20's that basically all the same.

Dragon247uk, I was wondering, what did u mean by, "Soon to be fixed?" Are you saying there will be an expansion that will add those abilities?

I love the PVP and the way the characters and skills work, I really don't like end game PVE though.
It's also too bad that you really need to have a decent guild for PVP and end game PVE, which means you have to keep playing if you want to stay where the sweet spots are. Which is a shame because, without the monthly fee, this game could have been perfect for "just one match".

What I liked: Great art design, cool PvP.

What I disliked: Everyone in the game are hot (or trying to be), no friends of mine were playing it because of WoW, you reached level 20 a bit too quickly.

I like just about everything.

The only real dislike I have is that there isn't enough new content to keep me playing it regularly.
After two year, and having finished every campaign a few times, I only find myself playing after big updates (hard mode, events, the upcoming bonus missions, etc).

Like: superb skill system, superb pvp, free, nice graphic engine, is accessible but also has depth, story driven, it's not world of warcraft or a clone.

Dislike: Most chars look like gap models, community has some very inconsiderate and nasty people, you cant go two-feet without having to kill everything in site, the rare weapons don't really give you that much of a bonus, armour could be more diverse, no crafting.

like:

-hench system (they may be retarded, but at least they can act as a diversion etc.)

-coherent mission sytem (like ur pointed to the right direction right after u complete a mission, u dont wander around aimlessly like in other MMO's looking for the next zone to grind in..)

-the game is not based on ur equipment (u dont need uber equipment to actually stand a chance in pvp cuz armor modifiers are minimal and the armor values are approriate for each class..)

-running (not literally, i mean the running where u can actually take people {or urself} to a later part in the game without having to do the quest to get there.. which means u can get end game armor at an earlier time in the game, if u have the money that is.. though they pretty much nerfed running after prophecies, GW still has it in some areas.. except that now u need faction to buy armors making running almost useless except in prophecies)

-skill sytem (i like how they made it so u only have 8 skills at any given time , it pressures u to make the right decisions for ur current role.. and especially the dual classess system which allows u to have 2 proffs at the same time..)

-pvp (all i can say is, the pvp in the game is really balanced and fun..)

-pve only skills (more powerful skills than ur standard stuff, but can only be used in pve.. which means u wont die as easily as u used to in pve thnx to the said skills, while pvp will still keep its balanced state..)

-heroes (the upgraded versions of the hench.. the coolest things about them is that u can directly control their actions and equip their weapons and armor)

-free2play (as long as u buy the game, u can play it free forever.. probably a major factor, if not, the most imortant factor for the game's success..)

dislike:

-community (at times its great, at times it suks.. so many people running around major cities w/out clothing and dancing in the middle of towns having disgusting conversations with complete strangers who may not be who they say they are..)

-pick up groups (they suck IMO, except the rare batch of eggs that aint rotten, im just glad that my bro is addicted to GW as much as I am so i wont have to bring a complete set of mindless henchies..)

-henchies (theyre both a good and bad thing, theyre just the last resort, the completely last resort..)

-bossess in eye of the north (theyre so hard to beat by urself, its virtually impossible to beat the game w/out the help of a party. Especially the last mission.. henches just stand in the lava pits waiting to burn.. heroes are not an exception either.. they still wont try to look for dry ground..)

Overall, likes and dislikes fall under preference and GW is a mighty swell game for me even with my dislikes..

edit:

forgot to add how beautiful the graphics look :D and how end game greens are so over priced :(
