You will be fine the only game i'm worried about you for your system is Battlefield 2. Do know this though here's my system specs.
Amd Athlon Xp 2100+(1.73ghz)
Geforce 4 ti 4600 128mb (With fan dead so I just a seperate fan which goes into PCI slot that sucks and exhaust the hot air from my video card)
1GB 2100+ RAM. (I got a stick of 2100+ and a stick of 2700+ but it runs at 2100+ cuz it can only run as fast as the slowest RAM you got)
40 Gig HD and a seperate smaller HD like 7 gigs or so.
I have played and enjoyed and beat games like:
1)Warcraft 3 and expansion (The Frozen Throne)
2)Need for Speed Underground 2 and Most Wanted
3)F.E.A.R. (Multiplayer Only)
4)Half Life 2 (Never beat it cuz it got boring but ran really well)
5)Doom 3(This game ran really really good, it's because ID Software knows what they're doing)
I think you will be fine for all the games. If anything you'll want to add another 1 gig for your system and then BF 2 you should be just fine. The other two Doom 3 and F.E.A.R will run really well. You might not run them at the fullest or you might with great framerate. Doom 3's engine is awesome and very flexible just like F.E.A.R's and Half life 2.
Does it really matter though? The games look great on low-mid high settings. Your system is way above mine. Doom 3 only requires like a Radeon 8550 or Geforce 4 ti or higher card.(For the pixel shaders)
All in all I think you will be fine. Many people always let go of the old and bring in the new. I've had my system for four years now. i've only needed to replace the video card and the motherboard once. (Which the MB was 45$ and the video card like 100$) I've added about 512 mb more and that's it. Your system is good if not great!
I'm not looking to run the games on the highest possible. So far my computer has done just fine. It runs UT 2004 and World of Warcraft really well.
You will also want to get an air pressure can (Radioshack, Office depot) and take your computer outside. Take out the case side and spray and pray. Make sure you're wearing crappy clothes and you might want a cloth over your mouth as you do this. The dust is gonna go EVERYWHERE so do it somewhere you can do it without getting in trouble! This will really help. You might also want to take out the fan from the CPU heatsink. (Just unplug and unscrew and clean that out well) The heatsink itself might be a little harder. You might want one more person to help you put it back in when you take it off. It's like legos. Make sure that you put the computer on a table and that you touch something metallic so you don't shock any of the electric components before you start touching stuff. Goodluck! (Read up online if you have any doubts)
