Basically, exactly like WoW, or maybe WoW but offline and single player. It would be just as huge and just as long, but with a better story with twists, fleshed out characters, maybe story cut-scenes, etc., basically, like a huge LotR type of storyline. But it will be 100% WoW's gameplay?

From the brief moment I've played WoW, I wouldn't mind playing a offline version of it if it had a great story to it. Also, some predestined characters that were fleshed out with personalites would be great, like Japanese RPGs, as companion players.

So basically Morrowind or Oblivion but WoW. What does everyone else think of this?

That would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only reason I don't play WOW is because I don't have time to commit to guilds and raids at certain times. To be able to play it at my own pace and without all the annoying people online would be amazing!!!!!

For me personally, out of the question. The only thing that kept me playing WoW when I did, were the players I got to know a little. In my opinion, it would be VERY boring if it still played the same exact way as WoW currently does.

You mean a single-player WOW (campaign)? Yeah, that would be awesome. I've daydreamed about it before but I know it will never happen. Good idea though.

It would have to be way different than say soloing current wow. Which I find about as fun as watching paint dry.

Well, It would definitely be a cool idea to have a single player campaign but there are some pros and cons to that. Cons people have already stated. WoW is about interaction and other people. When I played Wow for a short while the only reason I continued playing was to be with a couple of friends I had made there.

However I can see the benefits of a single player campaign. For example, in the normal WoW isn't it slightly annoying that nothing you do affects the world whatsoever? You go kill Illidan, the big, bad boss and he'll resurrect by tomorrow for someone else to kill. In that way a single player campaign would be more like a traditional RPG with Warcraft's rich backstory and plotline. It would be amazing if Blizzard would keep that as a side option for WoW. An RPG like Morrowind or Oblivion but instead in the world of warcraft would be brilliant if done nicely...

Blizzard should just make a traditional Warcraft single player RPG. I would love to see that...

it would defeat the entire purpose of a game like that.

Half the reason to play a game of that sort it to socialize, the other half to kill and quest with e-friends. Offline would make it soooo boring.

I like MMORPGS but sometimes u do feel like another face in the crowd expecially on wow, so yeh maybe an offline game with an epic, save the world type campaign would be good.

You can. You can search for guides online about how to host your own pirvate server, then it will just be you and only you in the WoW. But by yourself you cant run raids or PVP so there is no point.

that's what I would like more than anything else, especially if doing quests changed the game world (read: you kill pirate king, pirates go away).

No excuse.... I have a 74 that has never been in a raid. You can solo all the way to 80 if you want.

Ya, Ive played for four years and al I gotta say is raiding is for suckers. Ive done a couple runs with my guild through Khara (quarter runs, like a boss or two) and it just isnt as fun as an instance.

Instances, however, are tons of fun. Challenging, yet quick enough to not require a huge investment of time.

Yea, there should off been a SP mode aswell as an online mode as D2. Would had to be huge differences between the both in gameplay and story for the SP to be playable without getting bored out of our minds.

I don't play wow... or I haven't since vanilla.

Anyways, that would be an awful idea really. WoW, without people is a pretty boring game. Actually, its probably a subpar game if all you are doing is questing by yourself.

Any mmo is primarily there for either a) the other people or b) the idea of a giant virtual world that you can shape and change. As far as WoW goes... you have no real effect on the environment, but you have the friendship and challenges other people bring to the table. So take out PvP... 1/2 of the 'purpose' of WoW.. and then take out dungeons and raids, the other 1/2 of WoW and you really have nothing of any value.

Soloing in WoW is as interesting as watching paint dry. The whole point of WoW is the other players with you in a raid or instance. Also WoW is designed that you'll never reach the best gear for your character if you dont do raids.

To everybody who says that this would be boring, to quote Doctor Brown from Back to the Future:

"You aren't thinking 4th-dimensionally!!"

Seriously, if they added, or created, a campaign like that, it would be something more akin to NWN or Morrowind or Witcher. And I know damn well that you guys aren't going to call those games boring.

The gameplay is stale enough as it is. If you take away the pride people take in showing off their gear in Ogrimmar as if it's a good thing, people will stop playing.
