Does it look good for a build that comes out to be about $950? Or could I build something much better for the same amount?

If you guys recommend something else just be aware I do want a quad core CPU because I do more then just game on my PC and I do multi-task. Thank you :)

*Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition @ 2.6 GHZ (Will overclock to 2.9 - 3.0 GHZ if I need to)

*Radeon 4870 512mb

*Two 2 GB sticks of DDR2 1066 ram

*790GX ASUS motherboard

*500 GB SATA II hard drive with 32 mb's of cache

*650 watt power supply at 85% efficency with four 12 volt rails at 18 amps each.

*22X DVD burner

*Windows Vista HP

*I already have a computer case and I will be using my 26" HDTV as my monitor.

If you want a cheap Quad get the Q6600, it's better than any Quad from AMD.

Ill go for more ram and a 800watt PSU for Future Proofing... and i hope its 64 bit and not 32bit Vista you have listed there... as of now Intell is out performing AMD so you might want to rethink your choice of CPU... I'm not a fan of ATI Video Cards but eh what ever floats your boat.

So a Q6600 is the better option? What motherboard should I get that supports that CPU and has SATA II and PCI-Express 2.0?

Yes it's 64 bit Vista. I think 4 GB's is enough ram for now. I'll get more when I need to, and by the time games need more then 4 GB's of ram I might be building another computer by then.

Actually the 9950 (latest quad) is slightly above the Q6600.

there will be NO big improvement by switching to Intel, unless you have benchmarks for me to see where a similar priced Intel CPU totally outperforms this phenom...good solid rig.

if you are going to buy the q6600 then you need an aftermarket cpu fan, get the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro its cheap and has good reviews but I'm not sure if it fits in your case. And of course you need to change the motherboard to an intel based motherboard, you can buy a good cheap p35 mobo that will do the trick ,or you can spend more money on a p45 that will do the same job but overclocking will be easier.

Change the ram to a 4gb kit ddr2 800, the ddr2 1066 is useless with the q6600 unless you are going to oc the cpu pass 3.6 Ghz

Well someone said the Phenom 9950 is actually a little bit better then the Q6600 and both are the same exact price. I think I will just stick with getting the phenom. Thank you though :)
