How is it better though? Do you really know what you're talking aboutCrackThaRipperDon't listen to XboxUnderground. When it comes to LCD TVs, if you buy Samsung, Sharp, or Sony, you're getting a top-quality product that'll last you years. Go to AVSForum.com and ask there, though. This is not the best place to ask for HDTV advice. BTW, IMO, you should buy a plasma.

#1 higher contrast - the single most important thing in picture qualityXboxUndergroundUtter bull****. Contrast is not the be-all-end-all to picture quality, mainly because you'd have to have super-eyesight to see a difference between 1,000:1 and 800:1 contrast ratio. A TV only achieves those ideal contrast ratios after very fine calibration that requires its own set of advanced electronics, so the most you'll probably settle for is simple basic calibration. Not to mention the presence of ambient light can heighten/lessen an LCD TV's practical contrast ratio.
#2 it's bigger, and the same priceXboxUnderground2 inches bigger. They're functionally the same size, and I'd take the reliability of Samsung over Westinghouse's two inches.
#3 it's 1080pXboxUndergroundFirst, it's for an Xbox 360, and second, since there are no sources of 1080p out there except for BluRay and HD-DVD, I'd say the fact that the Westinghouse is a 1080p panel is a fairly moot point. And again, I'd rather take the Samsung over a near-useless resolution feature. Personally, though, I went with Sharp.

Between the 200,000:1 CR of HDR LCD and 1,000:1 CR of LCD, yes, it makes a difference. Even between the 10,000:1 CR of plasma and the 1,000:1 CR of LCD, yes, it makes a difference. But not between the 1,000:1 and 800:1 CR of two LCD panels, one of which is widely recognized as one of if not THE best manufacturer of top-quality LCD panels in the industry. 2) Shyeah, right. Unless you're talking about the 2" difference between a 17" computer monitor and a 19" computer monitor, no, it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of difference. 3a) It only upscales 1080p for now until native 1080p games come along, which, just as with the PS3, won't happen for any of the big games. 720p is this generation's gaming sweet spot. 3b) Unless the Xbox 360 suddenly grows an HDMI port, it's not outputting 1080p videos from HD-DVD. And Microsoft isn't dumb enough to put 1080p videos onto Xbox Live Video Marketplace. I should know, since I help administrate the damn service. 3b) It only upconverts DVDs to ANY HD resolution over VGA, which washes out the colors, throws off the calibration, and ruins all the benefits of that precious contrast ratio you bought the TV for in the first place. If the connection is over component, it only displays 480p max. Unless, as in (3b), it grows an HDMI port.
You're talking about an AQUOS right? What size? Can you comment on the banding issues?I've had no issues, except maybe for a bit of graininess to the video, but I suspect that that's due to the source video being over-the-air. I've had no problems with any HD videos I've downloaded off Xbox Live. For reference, I have a Sharp AQUOS LC-32D42U.
And to the TC, I'd save, that is an older Samsung...still good probably, but its probably verging on being discontinued. I'd save a bit more and just wait.
