It has a ton of potential, but the previous BiA games were overly linear and puzzle-like, which was extremely frustrating for a game set in a relatively large and often relatively open game world.
Another problem with the game is that the friendly AIs are real characters with real personalities, but in reality your men will always die, and it's stupid and frustrating (for me, anyway) to have my men die only to respawn for the next mission.
I strongly suspect Gearbox will make no attempt to solve either issue, and HH will still be a linear, formulaic puzzle game masquerading as a tactical FPS, and our guys will probably still die every mission only to respawn for the mission after.
But, that being said, the BiA games are both quality titles, and I'm looking forward to HH, flaws and all.
But I think Colonial Marines is a generally far more exciting game, for the most part.

i understand the puzzle solving analogy, but i personally found very little reason to try and solve the puzzles, because the a.i. was pretty bad. i played on the normal difficulty, and all i did (most of the time, except when there were stationary machine guns) was rush in spurts and get close enough and take potshots at them, and since they didn't take good care of themselves (stay consistently behind cover), i was able to exploit the weak a.i. what difficulty did you play in?

I play most games on normal, so probably normal - but I liked playing the game as a tactical shooter with the find/fix/flank/finish approach, since that is after all the only thing that makes the game worth playing. I get the impression that playing it like Rambo would just make it into a very, very, very bad CoD clone.
What I want for the series is walls we can jump over, hedges we can cut through, doors we can kick down. The environments aren't exactly huge, so making full blown go-anywhere environments wouldn't be too hard. I just want to be able to smash a door in and set a gun nest up at a second storey window instead of having to take the conveniently placed flank, but just charging the dumb AI wouldn't do it for me, either.
BiA has the potential to be an utterly excellent and utterly unique game that is a legitimate rival to games like Call of Duty and Medal of Honour, but as I said, I really think Colonial Marines is gonna be the game that does more for the FPS/RTS hybrid.

that sounds like a great game you described! yeah, not being able to climb over hedges and bushes and stuff in a tactical fps was a bit of a downer. i just played it like rambo because there was just no reason to do otherwise. it was quite a disappointing experience, especially for a game that got such good reviews.
;)I think there doing a awesome job, I didn't like the price but who does ,but we have to pay them for there hard work :D. It took some getting use to but when i did the game became more user friendly  and now the games worth the money.
