What do you intend to use the PC for? If its gaming, XP is a more stable platform right now.

Microsoft releases their OS on a slated date regardless if the product is riddled with bugs or is unfinished. Wait until service pakcs come out, and probably by then the price will drop. There is no need to switch to vista right now since there are no DX10 games (for gaming purposes)

Not if you are getting it with the 8800GTX like you posted earlier.

So the smart thing would be too keep the 8800 GTX with XP then change later with Vista.

are you saying the GTX8800 wont work?

People keep saying that Vista is riddled with problems, the problems are not with Vista the problems are with the drivers and that falls on the hardware companies. I have not had a single problem with Vista however I have had problems with drivers from nVidia, the actual rudimentary drivers in Vista are better than the crap that nVidia keeps throwing out.

It will work, but Vista is very immature right now (including drivers from hardware vendors). Vista gaming performance is below that of XP, and there just is not a SINGLE compelling reason to go to Vista right now if you are a gamer. Not ONE.

Totally agree with you. Vista hasn't crashed on me once - and the Nvidia drivers were so bad that the graphics card became faulty and I had to get a refund ! Thankfully, my new X1650pro with the ATI drivers is much more stable. So yeah. Driver support is the problem.

Yeah I know. I'm really pleased with the performance of ATI in rolling out Vista drivers - and the Catalyst Control Center is great as well.
