Love it.
I just reformatted my hardrive and reinstalled windows last week. I have about 8 games on steam, and to reinstall them I simply told steam to reinstall my games, then I went out for lunch and took the kids for a walk. When I got back, everything was done. So easy :)
My other non-steam games, however, I had to get all the CD's, all the cd keys, and reinstall them one at a time manually. Pain in the arse.
I wish all games had the *option* of being downloaded on steam.
Steam is great! It was bad back in ~2004 but it has changed a lot know and is a great platform to buy games. If I ever do encounter a problem on steam I usually just restart steam and everything is fine again, seems a lot of people dont ever think to do this. bignice12
Anytime I've had a problem with it thats the first thing I do and it's alright until I finish doing whatever on it.
I really like steam, there arn't that many good games on it that I don't already have, but I got CoH and call of duty 2 from it (I lost my other CoD2 which I hadn't beaten) I am thinking about getting the 3 and 4 expansions for DOW (4 isn't out yet), but I don't have too much money now and I havn't beat DOW yet.
I really love steam, but I hate how vista will not put steam games (other than ep1 ?1?) into the games window with their separate icons. Oh well, I just launch the games with steam anyway.
Steam is an excellent service.
The very few negatives are outweighed greatly by the numerous positives.
Questions about Steam: 1. If I buy Crysis can I add the game to my Games list on Steam?? 2. If Quake III Arena is on Steam, will Steam let me launch the game with mods and stuff or only original version??? 3. Everyone knows that Steam has games like CoD4 available to digitally buy. I'm wondering, if I bought the DVD version of CoD4, am I able to DOWNLOAD the game into any computer from now on just like the Valve games???TheBigBadGRIM
1. You can add a shortcut to the game, but it won't get tied to your account or anything.
2. I'm not too sure
3. And I think that only works for valve games (tieing them to your steam account) otherwise you would need to buy the Game actually off steam, the CD-Key given in the boxed version won't work in steam.
I personally love steam, although I've got an always on internet connection, so depending on your internet, I can understand why some people would have a problem with steam.I can't defrag any steam games. Also I hate being greeted by 1-2 pop-ups when I open steam.Swiftstrike5Well I don't know why you couldn't defrag your Steam games (try reinstalling Steam?), but it's pretty easy to just change the settings so you don't get any popups, so I'm guessing you haven't tried *too* terribly hard to rectify either situation.
