I was just wondering what people's opinions were on the following alienware. It seems great for the price. Also, if anyone can point me towards a better deal, that would be great. The link is below:

I looked at its link and true it isnt as overpriced as expected but is still overpriced, you could save money buy building yourself,

also the configuretion in the link had a 250gb HDD not a 500GB.

Build yourself you could get for $800

I would suggest building yourself a system. The 9800 is just a rebranded 8800. You can get a 4850 or 4870 for a cheaper price off newegg.

Self build if you can. not only is it probably a lot cheaper but you get the satisfaction of building it yourself and getting precisely what you want.

If you can't build one or don't trust yourself (like me lol) then find a local computer store that will build it for you. This shop near my house will build any rig for about 40 bucks.

That what i keep repeat people i can even make you a pc of 1200-1300$ Far better then ferret with a 4870 1GB
let say id get E8400 / E8500 As cpu
motherboard P45 Asus P5Q Pro at 135$ / [X48 only if you crossfire]
DDR2 1066mhz 4GB G-skill if im right for 70$
video card id get someting as big as 4870 1GB / GTX 260 Maxcore from BFG
and PSU 750wats corsair or PC&cooling Silencers for more Reliablity Power supply

I could make you a list on newegg.com say a budget ur will to spend and what game you dream / anticpate to play in 2009 & now at what Resolution 1280x1024 19 inch CRC monitor ? 1680x1050 20 inch + / 1920x1200 (Are monitor 24 inch)
so you don't buy overpriced thing if you don't seek a good usage of it buying a 1300$-1500 when you don't use it would be useless :D you see wut i mean.

for what iv got exlcuding os / hard Drive since i ad them i paid 1550$it in my sig you can make one smiiialry as mine
if you see game that you will play on it in year 2009 cause the pc you where looking where 1300$+ With tax so
on pre-build for 1300$ you'd get someting 3.5x stronger just because you'd get 260GTX max core / 4870 1GB or 4870x2 for 250$ more

http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,663817/Reviews/Far_Cry_2_GPU_and_CPU_benchmarks/?page=3
far cry 2 is far of behind max potential of 2009 game so just take a look of how it consume for 1680x1050 all max
it even shock me :)

benchmark are source of reality

dude i recommend considering an hp or something like that. they're way cheaper and made with the same parts. The computers are pre-built, but cheap. Not as cheap as building of course, but not too much more either. Just make sure the case is big enough for your gpu if you do this.

IMHO, if you can't build this is your best option. You get to pick the specific parts you want, not just pick from a few offered.

Also, people like pre-builts because if they mess up they don't have to fix them, but you usually have to ship the entire PC back to who you bought it from and wait weeks. If you use a local PC shop. you can just run it back up to them, and with a simple problem have it back the same day, but even with a bad problem it should not take long.

I also feel more comfortable with someone I can look in the eye and work with, not just some body over the phone, you will never meet.

as long as you buy new parts, it comes with step by step instructions.

and your motherboards instruction book should cover just about everything anyway..

How bout u shove off scine u dnt feel lie learning haveing a fun experience and scine it seems u barley have or may have no knowledge on how to save money then go buy that piece of crap Prebuilt because when i finally have 2 4870x2's in crossfire its gona put it to shame as is. Also to get your facts straight we all tell people to build there own because the hassel with a pre-built desktop and the money u pay is tooverpriced, the only perbuilt we suggest is labtops if ur constantly on the move. Also this is how i know ur a dam newb at cmps ur impressed with two 9800gt's with a quad core, did u even know there a rebanded name from the 8800gt, get your facts straight and dont knock people for saying the trusth ill leave it at this u wana be lazy and spend loads of money on a pre-built then go do it but dnt tell us to shove off for u ignorance and lazyness for nto wanting to build your own, its called researching and reading your manual i hope u do know how to read right.

Saw that overpriced piece of tin called laptop of theirs.

WTF, 3500 and above ?? With only a little above 2000 you can make a normal desktop PC that is 3 times better and better yet make your friends cry in envy when they look at it.

Seriously now, laptops are not for gaming. Never were, never will be.

Never buy from alienware man. Dell owns Alienware. I purchased a MALX laptop from them while deployed in Iraq. it took over 2 months to reach me so when it arrived it was past the 30 day money back gaurantee I was informed. When it arrived... it would not boot. Ive been sending this computer in for the same issue for two years now. everytime I send it in it comes back with the same issue. Finally after admiting they dont know whats wrong and cannot fix the computer.. They offer in exchange for one they charged me $7,026.67 for, a system which when priced out comes to 2,800.00 dollars. claiming my computer (if you can call it that since it never functioned as one) is not worth what it was at time of purchase. Take my advice dont buy from Alienware or DELL. dont beleive me? look at their rating on BBB they are a D- company as they have done this to thousands of customers. They are nothing more then crooks inTies.
