This is proably one of the stupidest questions here, but i'm not exactly sure what it does with headsets? anyone mind explaining? :)

I don't think some headsets are actually 5.1. It's just a buzzword. =PThis is proably one of the stupidest questions here, but i'm not exactly sure what it does with headsets? anyone mind explaining? :)

Well like i have the tritton AX720 and they say that turtlebeach has more bass then the tritton ax720.. and some people like it and some people don't... but I have no idea what bass is, so I'd like to know what they mean xD whats the effect bass does in a headset?WakanoidOh, you don't actually even know what bass is? Bass is the low frequencies that are produced from a speaker. It's really low and it's sound that you can feel. Good bass is directionless (you feel surrounded by it, can't tell where it's coming from). Listen to a rap song that goes "boooom, boooom, boooom" - that's bass.
As with any speaker, headphone, or such - you want the exact amount that was intended. The best headset/headphones would have deep and accurate bass. Cheap ones have too little bass or too much.I know what bass is and how it sounds (my bad on how I explained on last post), I was just wondering if it was anything different with a headset. So for gaming wouldn't less bass be better?

bass is in some ways a silly term. It's just a way of refering to the lower end of the sound spectrum. "Sub woofer" is even a sillier term. Most of those pc sound setups, with the "powered" subwoofer, really don't produce accurate bass--they just tend to up the volume in the 60 hertz range, producing that "thump" which doesn't equate to bass. Nice quality mid range woofers will go down to about 40 or 50 hertz. It costs alot of money to produce a bass frequency in the 20 hertz range. As far as headphones go...
Simple answer for a simple question: If you using an awesome 7.1 headset with deep bass ( I use the Turtle Beach X41s) then all those explosions, grenades, and generally sound ambiance will be deep and you can feel the sound. The X41 has great bass so you truly feel like your there in the action because in real life, you hear sound and feel it.

No, accuracy means how exact the bass is reproduced. Accurate bass sounds high quality and deep. But inaccurate, bloated bass just sounds like a blob of low end sound. It's hard to explain it if you haven't heard the difference first hand. Nearly all PC-marketed speakers have terrible bass - so use that as a reference. If you feel like you're getting a head ache or the bass is really pronounced and annoying sounding - then the bass on the speakers/headphones sucks. SkullCandy earbuds and headphones are also another example of bad bass if you've ever heard anything from that brand.I know what bass is and how it sounds (my bad on how I explained on last post), I was just wondering if it was anything different with a headset. Obviously you don't have robot ears....:)
Bass is a silly thing when it comes to headphones, directional audio is far more important. I'd rather know where the bullet that just hit me in the shoulder came from rather than feel it. If you care that much just get a nice 5.1 speaker setup for whatever you're gamin on, put the sub under your desk and have at it. Trust the mids and highs if you're concerned about gaming, the lows are better left to movies and music, IMHO.
