Is it better to run the game in d9 or d10?

Better particles (smoke, dust, explosions), better lighting, better shadows and object blur.

Some will say that there are no benefits (above), because in still images it doesn't look that much better, but in motion, in the middle of action, you'll never want to go back to DX9.

it brought worse performance even at the same settings. The main advantage is the object motionblur which makes the game look better in motion altoguh this to works in dx9 but its glitched on the aliens and nanosuit.

DX9 There's no difference on DX10 except worse performance, just use one of those very high tweaks.

Particle effects are a little better, but it's not anything major and most people agree that unless you've got a monster rig the framerate cost isn't worth it. It's better to just use the .ini config tweaks out there to force "very high" settings in DX9 mode. That way you save 5-10 FPS just on virtue of not being in DX10.

Until you turn it up to the maximum level.

So, if you can run everything at very high without tweaking, are there any real benefits? I did, and it still seemed to frame dip a little occasionally, and I am running it on high end hardware. Is DX10 still not worth the investment for the current game technology?

it does look better. imo anyway. i have a dual boot system with vista 64 that i very rarely use because i dont like vista but i decided to use it last week and stuck crysis on and i definitely noticed a higher overall visual quality. and it still ran great with no performance drop

I noticed no difference in going from Vista to 7. There was nothing wrong with Vista 64.

Performance wise, the benefits are mostly under the hood. Faster boot times, smaller resource usage etc. So to the average user they probably won't notice any difference between Vista and Win 7 unless Vista's resource usage was really choking their system.

All the effects done in DX10 can be done in DX9 by simply changing a few config files.

volumetric lighting looks better, shadows, particles. Clouds. It runs smooth as Butter on my PC using Directx 10
