You have to be a little more informative. For all i know you have a hardware compatibility issue but since i dont know what you have i couldnt tell you without it being a wild guess.

If it fails to post and then immediately shuts down ( powers off ) i would lean towards an improperly inserted mainboard power connection. Either that or your board has thermal shutdown enabled and you forgot to plug the cpu fan header in.

Could be a boat load of things.

Either somthing is loose, not plugged in, or your psu is too weak for your system

Almost certainly your system detects a CPU overheat prob. If you didn't just forget to plug the HSF fan into the mobo, then likely the interface between the CPU and the HSF is crap- wipe and re-apply HT paste properly. OR the HSF just can't cut it with said CPU, in which case blow a few more bucks and do the job right.

Ignore this guy on PSU- it would not likely cause an immediate shutdown/restart. If it were PSU, it would most likely happen randomly or upon launching a load-heavy app.

Give us your specs, and more info about what happens. For example, do the fans just twitch when you turn it on? Or does it stay on for maybe 1 minute to 10 minutes before it shuts down? Etc.

I know for a fact that a weak PSU would make your system immediately shut off. Or not even start. I upgraded my graphics card recently and all I got when I hit the power button were twitching fans. I upgraded my PSU with a larger wattage PSU and it fixed the problem.

Try it with the bare essentials, 1 stick of ram the CPU, just what you need to boot, and see what it does.

If it still won't boot one possibility is that it is shorting to the case. To test this, set you motherboard up outside of the case (like on a phone book), if it runs fine, then thats your problem.

I had a similar problem, it happens when the PSU is broken.
My problem was that one of my USB devices were going wrong, and i saw thah there was a short circuit between the wires.
Got of the USB, and all was right.

the power in your house, is it good? :D

Is the shut down immediatly? or after some tome?

Okay, so apparently it had something to do with a motherboard pin or whatever, thats all good now. It starts up now and everything, BUT, now, it wont detect the harddrive. I already installed windows on the harddrive before, and when i try to start up windows, the windows loading screen will flash once and the computer will restart. And it was shutting down less than a second when I turned it on.

try reinstalling it, its always best to keep everything at bar min. when installing your OS, which means 1 stick of ram, and 1 harddrive plugged in etc....

Go ahead, if you aren't afraid to lose the data on that drive.

did you use thermal grease? if yes, did you make a evenly thin layer of grease? check the temperature of the cpu

the computer auto turn off if the cpu get to hot
