Also, any particular graphical features/effects you would like to see.

I would like to see some crowds similar to Blood Money/Assassin's Creed. This might be possible since there are images of riots in the trailer.

this is going to sound odd...but they should stick with the deus ex version of UE1.....maybe upgrade to UE2 but thats it.

why? simply because itll stop the devs pouring money into technology and start putting it where a game like dues ex needs it most....the gameplay, the writing, the music, the level design, the AI and the attention to detail (which is seperate from graphics). Deus ex never became a success on the strength of its graphics (the game looked poor by the standards of its day). the last thing the devs need to work on are the bloody graphics.

realistically speaking though, id say the game will be based on UE3 but i would love to see it built on the stalker engine (modified of course) due to its advanced ai routines and ability to deal with huge areas.

Lol, thats the one I was thinking of! How good would that be? Deus Ex is has a focus on NPC's and story. Source would be ideal in rendering faces with actual emotions. Its a great engine not only to look at but also for storytelling. Thats what has to be done with this sequel. They need to take a page out of HL's book and use the technology to deliver the narrative.

an engine that is well optimised without too much eyecandy, so they focus on gameplay, wich is what deus ex is about. Source or ut3 would be good choices, i just want them to keep the same interface as the first DX and keep the clever level design (ie: tons of ways to get to the same objective).

By the time Deus Ex 3 is even anounced, the Source engine will be so dated that the graphics aren't going to live up to it's era of games. So either new deus ex 3 engine or borrow a good current game engine. But not source.

Hmmm use of the Source engine in a FPS/RPG

(see Vampire Bloodlines)

I honestly reckon possibly CryEngine 2. The urban enviroments it reders are exellent, as its facial animations, and sheer scale.

It was already announced months ago and a teaser trailer has been released recently. They probably won't use the source engine but it could always be update with graphical effects. If it looked as good as EP2 I would be satisfied. Wouldn' t you?

A version of the undying Source Engine that is updated to 'modern' standards (though I personally think that it still looks pretty friggin' good).

Do you think we could somehow sugget these ideas to Eidos? We might be thrown out ....physically...but it could we worth a try!! I think they'd just have to work on the AI a bit if they used that engine! But other than that it would be great!

I would like them to make the game similar to HL. In that it would have heavily scripted sequences, NPC's with emotions, etc. A totally immersive experience like HL. I really can't describe it. Help me out here!!

Deus Ex 3 was announced, and they even made a small CG trailer on Edios Montreal's website showing a cyber-baby to announce it.

With that said, a release date of 2009+ according to the website, I'd say Cryengine 2 would be the best. It supports excelent face/body movement animation system (better than HL2 IMO in some cases), great visuals at decent performance for what you get, and a slew of other next gen features/lighting. Plus, it works well on the 360/PS3 (Crysis doesn't, but that's because they made the game with really uber view distances and what not).

I mean, look at this:

Both images were made in a work in progress fan-made city level in Crysis's Sandbox 2 level editor...

That looks like the PERFECT setting for a Deus Ex 3 :D

I think thats the money ball so to speak. I haven't played Crysis since I have such a crap computer. Is that all in-game and everything? That looks amazing. They would have to use the engine.

Would you want to have it turned down a little bit for the sake of system requirements or just leave it as is?

I don't think it needs to be turn down, since Deus Ex probably won't have as much thing going on as Crysis

In 2009 there will be pc's 3-4 times more powerful than now. The new consoles should easily handle Cry Engine 2 as well.

source is kinda plain, and its not made for huge enviroments and complex lighting and shading, its outdated. Id say maybe like Unreal 3 engine or cryengine 2.

CryEngine 2 or something completely new. No reason not to take advantage of the most technically advanced engine available.

I really don't agree with that. Have you played the White Forest level in EP2? The lighting in the mines is also excellent particularly in This Vortal Coil.

The Source engine is outdated. Especially now that the CryEngine 2 has been unleashed. There really is nothing more Valve can add to it unless they do an entire overhaul. Picking an engine from 2003/2004 for a game in 2008 (or later) is not the best of ideas, no matter how much anyone "likes" it.

Haha don't get ahead of yourself. At most it will be twice as powerful at the end of 2009.

The UE3 engine with an update or customised version would be good since its visually appealing and works well on a wide range of systems. The Source engine is too old and i hope to god they dont think of using the Crytek engine since it would require high end PC's to play unless they dumbed it down a little.

I think Starbreeze's Escape from Butcher Bay/The Darkness engine (I don't know if they are the same engine, but I assume so) is one of the best looking - and atmospheric - engines out there.

the darkness

I think it's a great looking engine, and it handles urban environments very well. Cryengine 2 may be the better choice - but I haven't seen too many examples of how well it handles urban environments. Monolith's Project Origin/Condemned 2 engine might be a good choice, too.

Just read on Shacknews:

Eidos Montreal's recently announced Deus Ex 3 will use a modified version of the engine created by Eidos-owned sister studio Crystal Dynamics for Tomb Raider: Legend (PC, PS2, X360)

"We chose the Crystal engine because we plan to help develop this engine more and then share it back with the rest of the company,"

So there ya have it.

Oh dear, massive retarded next gen flashback on pc...

I just hope they wont go for something cutting edge in graphics because then we can have more stuff.

Just compare UT2004 with UT 3 in content, and if deus ex 3 is gonna have a lot of options for the story and which way you go then it shoundt be hold back because they cant create it all because of time when they are using state of the art graphics.

Wasn't one of the problems with the development of games like Thief 3, Deus Ex 2 and the recent Area 51 that they had to share an engine with other projects?

Wow....wowee. That is a real surprise. I must say its a very attractive engine, even if its not cutting edge per se. Maybe they're going to concerntrate on animations this time which was a complaint of the first game. What do people think about using the Crystal engine?

just proves were their intentions lie. They already hurt the Deus Ex name with IW and they are going to flush it down the toilet with Deus Ex 3. Way the go Eidos! First get a gamespot reviewer fired and now ruin the deus ex name.

Jeff Gertsmann supposedly got fired after giving a 6 to Kane&lynch.
