I have the exact same laptop as you and I play The Orange Box on low (aside from TF2) and Day of Defeat Source on medium no joke, the games other people selected are fine too
Intel core i3 3.2 Ghz 2 core 4 threads, 2 GB ddr3 RAM, 1 GB integrated video. Im pretty sure this will just about cover any game, including the latest, simply a bit more RAM, what do you think? However, Oblivion runs bad on it with maxed everything, and HDR lighting wont work, only bloom. Any ideas? Iv got DoW 2, which should should run great on it :)

Don't expect to go beyond low setting with an integrated graphic. 1gb vram doesn't mean anything. If you want to play games I'd recommend getting a $100 graphic card.
I could get a graphics card but i figured that if it was 1 GB intergrated or 1 GB vid card it wouldnt make any difference, apart from the vid card having the latest technology, which i dont think oblivion would need. even so, if that was the problem, i dont think it would cause the ammount of lag i get.

Believe me, integrated graphics is not anywhere near good enough to run Oblivion, and it is without doubt why the game is running badly. Same with DoW2, and 99% of games made after 2002.

Integrated hardware uses very generalized hardware (to save on power consumption and production costs) such that in order to do the desired instructions would take several more cycles. An actual discrete video card however has specialized hardware that won't have to take the extra time to do the same things. Also driver support on a discrete card is much better.

integrated graphics is the worst thing to ever happen to computers.
You will never be able to run any game decently on integrated graphics.
