hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahaha shut up
World of Starcraft.
We were discussing this in another thread and we came to a few conclusions.
1. WoW is getting a bit stale for most people's taste, so the second the new MMOs hit the stands Bliz might lose a few subscribers. Conan, Warhammer, LOTRO, etc.
2. There are very few scifi MMOs, with only two partially successful ones: Anarchy Online and SW: Galaxies. If World of Starcraft were released, it would be essentially the only option for someone to play a scifi MMO.
3. It wont be another Warcraft game because WoW was that, and the story is being told through WoW. I think they might continue the story with another expansion for WoW, and maybe in a few years we will get Warcraft 4.
4. Whats gonna make more money? An RTS (Starcraft 2) that everyone buys, or an MMO (World of Starcraft) that everyone buys and continues to pay a monthly fee for every single month? I think the latter is a really simple choice for Blizzard.

Good points. I have a theory that it will be a spin-off of Starcraft. Perhaps even Starcraft Ghost reborn as an mmo for pcs. This would work well and would satisfy everyone. Starcraft 2 would then still have room to be a rts.Â

Ya, Ive been dying to play a MMOFPS and I just couldnt get into Planetside. I know if Bliz made it it would be both accessable and good quality. And Huxley seems too far off and frankly I am not interested in it.
I just hope its an MMO of sorts. I know a lot of people would resent it if it is, but WoW is just getting old to me personally (and I think all the lvl 70 players would much rather try something else to be honest).

starcraft MMOFPS doesnt sound too bad...Dont forget about Huxley (which will be out this year) and Warhammer 40,000K (yes 40k by THQ and Vigil Games) those 2 games are also scifi MMOs and FPS to boot.SoldFree
Ya, I mentioned Huxley (as an MMOFPS) but I thought the Warhammer game was gonna be set in a medieval-fantasy type thing, not the 40k setting.
If it's not Starcraft 2 there is going to be a massacre in South Korea. They all treat Starcraft as if it were a god. They have tournaments all the time. And Blizzard still makes quite a bit of money off of those because of royalties.
If it's not SC2, the Blizzard crew better have a good exit stratagy.
what are they going to announce? that they are making a game and it'll be so awesome but now were going to have to wait 5 years for it? or are they announcing they are releasing a new game soon? i hope its dam diablo 3, it would make sense.
all the hack n slash games that have came out since diablo 2 havent been able to compete, yeah they are better all around but they all have lacked the main component -battlenet.
Â
This is how the announcement should sound.Â
'fat guy with mega phone yells'Â
our new game is diablo 3 and it has good graphics like nwn2 and an evil twisted story with freakish monsters, demons, and dead bodies everywhere... enjoy.
Korea will be freaking pissed if its not SC2, along with me, a well made RTS is much better than any MMO.
It's all about the skill.Â
I know it wont be as good as the original, but it will still be good :)
I mean come on, warcraft 3 is so much better than W1 and w2

You're second sentence contradicts you're first sentence. You're saying that you already know Blizzard won't be able to make the sequel as good as the originals, yet you say Warcraft 3 is better than it's predecessors.
No.
Starcraft is a legend.
Warcraft 1 and 2 was crap but I liked Warcraft 3. It's not a contradiction.
First line was about Starcraft.
Second was about Warcraft. The second line was kind of hoping for SC2 to be better than the original, since they did with WC but I dont think they can do it for the fact that SC was so great.
if it was diablo 3 it would be amazing but i'll not holding my breath thats why im gonna go starcraft 2

Hmmm... Alright, I understand, but I disagree. IMO Warcraft 1 & 2 were better than WC3. I'd say they were even, but WoW's plague has swooped over WC3 too, with that feel, so I can't enjoy it anymore. WC1&2 however, are both fresh and exciting to me, and bring back a lot of good memories as a kid.
IMO, Blizzard has already proved they can make a sequel better than the predecessor with the likes of (I know you don't agree but) Warcraft 3, and Diablo 2 - both better in my opinion.Â
Well the gap between the warcraft games and the 2 diablo games werent that big.
I was thinking some of the core starcraft designers would have left blizzard thanks to WoW, so SC2 probably wont be the same.Â

Yeah I heard about that too, which is unfortunate, but I assume most of the WC3 developers are still around, and we know they know how to make a great RTS, so we'll see where we go from there.Â

I'm going to start killing people that think its not going to be a Starcraft game they announce in KOREA.Â

There is Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (by EA Games and EA Mythic coming out next year) and then there is Warhammer 40k (working title by THQ and Vigil Games release date for War40k TBA)
