Probably one of your first games, the game you remember most, for me i think it would have to be the first serious PC game i bought which was Ghost Recon few years ago, played many an hour on it, and then the GTA3 vs Mafia battle is the next best , i remember playing almost the whole of GTA3 at about 5-9fps as my PC just wasnt up to it but i just had to finish the game, sad?

Also Mafia to me still has the best atmosphere of any game ever made, maybe the music is a big part of it but i bet most people got so involved in the game that they actually felt like mafiosa (sp?) ... great game...

Command & Conquer started it all for me. It wasn't my first video game but it was the game that got me hooked on PC gaming. First time when I tried it, I played a LAN game with a friend. It was so realistic, so awesome and so cool to command an army like that. And the whole game was so much different, so much more complex then all the other games. It was especially cool to see all those vehicles that also existed in real life and that you had only seen on TV or in pictures but now you could command them yourself! I loved the way the infantry screamed when they died, it was so brutal and because of that it made the game feel so brutally realistic. It was also the first time that I heard some good electronic music and the music really set the mood. The whole atmosphere was pretty dark, which I like. No shiny collours with rainbows and butterflies and a happy ending, like in most games those days. But just brutal, realistic violence. This game was so much different from all the other games.

That's how I felt about the game those days, I'm not saying that the game is realistic or anything. By the way, that was the first time I played a LAN game so that was also something that contributed to the "addiction". Playing with plastic soldiers felt so out of date after that LAN session.

PC - I think the first game I had was Screamer Rally. As far as the best memories, that went goes to Carmageddon/Splat Pack and Worms/Worms 2.

On PC, Doom, Theme Park and Worms were the games that really got me into PC gaming. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a PC with a graphics card until 2000, so they were amongst the only PC games I played between 1994 and 2000.

I mostly had consoles before then, starting with the Master System when I was about four or five. Alex Kidd in Miracle World was one of the first games I played.

Well Half-Life 1 was the first FPS we got with a new computer. A good start you could say...

Probably my favourite two memories though are:

1. Trying bullet time for the very first time in Max Payne. It just blew me away.

2. Completing that Haunted Cathedral mission in Thief: Gold after a two year absence.

More recently the ending of Episode Two and the beginning of Bioshock have become favourites too.

PC? I started when I was 9 (did console before that) and I'm only 15... so I'd have to say the first few I played were Battlefield 1942 and CS 1.6 with my brother at those LAN party/internet cafe places.

The first PC game I played was Duke Nukem 3d, but my favorite earlier PC games were Medieval Total War and Delta Force Black Hawk Down. In later years it was Half Life 2 that got me serious into PC gaming.

Boy, some of you sure are young. The first serious commercial game that got me into PC gaming was probably Zork or Starflight, although prior to that there were tons of non-serious (casual) or non-commercial games we all played back in the day.

How did EA go from making things like Starflight to the evil empire they are now? I dunno.

Yes Delta Force! That was my first game. I would go round to my friend's house and play it. My most memorable game is CSS, I've met so many cool people and had such a good time on it. I'm going to play some now infact :)

The first game I remember playing on PC was Sopwith, back in 1984.

Or maybe it was The Hitch-Hiker's Guide text adventure game, which I think was the same year. One or the other, anyway.

My first PC game was Battletech way back on some IBM PS1 or 2....maybe a tandy, i dont remember. then Mechwarrior shortly after that, i learned how to upgrade ram for that game. Some Space Quest games as well, those we're funny!

X-Wing on CD-Rom was my first foray into the world of pentium pc's and i haven't looked back since.

Hehe, yeah you're right. I'm 40 and been playing PC games for quarter of a century - longer that some of these posters have been alive. O.O

Now that's a sobering thought.

Started off with a bunch of titles for the original NES, but it was Simcity 2000 and Aces of the Deep that got me into PC gaming. My tastes haven't changed since then.

well elite on the BBC got me started in older PC games (if were going to consider the BBC a PC). but then there was a big break as PCs were bloody expensive here. i got into modern PC gaming (whatever that is :P) with freesapce. the intro made my jaw drop and the game was amazing.
