what games are better played on consoles?

hello guys

im getting increasingly frustrated with rubbish ports, and lack of aa on pc titles. also, you cant really flop on the couch when you're playing the pc. and then theres so many problems with drivers, hardware etc, so any other problems when you just want to game can be really sickening. this is not a question of which games are best played with a controller. when i can afford it, when im in college, im going to get a 360/ps3. whether i will keep a gaming pc remains to be seen.

my votes are:

gta 4: ive had a zillion crashes, you have to fiddle with the settings, you need a super expensive pc, theres no aa, even when played at 1920 by 1080, jaggies are there!!

saints row 2: utter **** of a port. and they made it look worse than the console versions.

please restore my faith in pc gaming:)

Saints Row for sure. GTA IV depends on your PC; people like me are certainly better off playing it on PC... ;)

naturally it has the potential. as does every other pc non exclusive. the pc version should always be the best by far, seeing as how much we spend on hardware, and then console gamers have working games on 3 or more year old hardware!

I recently got a PS3 and have Saint's Row 2, NHL 09, and iL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. Between the blu-ray player and these games, I would say it was totally worth it.

I own a PS3, actually. I play exclusives like Killzone 2, Uncharted, Warhawk, etc. Everything else is on my PC. Its worth it, but not by much.

I have a 360 and I mostly play games that aren't on PC such as Army of Two, Halo 3, Fable II, Viva Pinata, Crackdown, Forza, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, The Darkness, Table Tennis, Dead or Alive 4...if it's on PC and it's not absolute crap, I'm getting the PC version.

I got Grand Theft Auto IV on PC, no regrets. It looks much better, it controls better, more traffic, video editor, Independence FM.

i don't even own a console anymore... but i do think racing games play better on the console. But keep in mind i don't have a wheel controller.

Fighting games

in my opinion they are best with a big screen TV, a couch and a gamepad.

Multiplayer Sports games like madden.

This. The only reason I ever get games on the 360 is because it's either a fighting game, a sports game, or a 360 exclusive. Everything else goes on the pc. Better graphics, better controls, custimization, mods, better online play. If I had a large(40+ inch) 1080p tv I might consider getting a ps3 for the blu-ray. Even then there are few movies that are worth paying the premium for, but it's nice to have the option at least. There aren't many games I want for it though.

Playing FPS games with a controller is like running a marathon on crutches...why would you ever do it? The only excuse is if you don't have a pc.

Well, I've been a long-term PC gamer, but problems with DRM and then my gaming rig going down left me a bit disgruntled. I basically can't be bothered any more with online activations, limited installs, using revoke tools, not being able to give away some games to friends (as I used to), then the whole tweaking the crap out of a game to get it to run properly. Yep, I've done the whole nine yards in the past, switching drivers, installing patches, doing reformats and complete OS reinstalls, and fondly remember the days of trying to free enough memory to get DOS games to run back in the day. Been there, done that.

It's been a long haul and now I'm just tired of it. So I turned to the dark side and got some X360 games, cos I already got the console for the rest of the family last year, and it was sitting there, so I thought I'd make use of it myself.

Mostly it started out with me replacing SecuROM 7/StarForce PC games in my collection with the console versions (because I had trouble with SecuROM - it's a long story that I'm not going to reiterate). But I picked up a few more titles as well. So I now have 25+ games for the console, many of which were also released on PC. It's taken me some time to get used to the controller, but I persevered and I manage quite well in shooters. I played through the Orange Box last month (and had a great blast, even though I'd already played it on PC). Lost Planet felt better on the console. Just completed Bioshock (good game), and before that FEAR 2 (good game), and I'm currently playing Fallout 3 (good game). Also played some co-op Rainbow Six Vegas with my son, and we had a great time.

I think the graphics are fine on the console versions (cos I'm not a graphics whore), and if you can get used to the controller, there's nothing wrong with it. You don't have to worry about compatibility issues, system requirements, DRM, day one patches or anything else - the games just work out of the box.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm not giving up PC gaming - because I have a large collection of PC titles that I will always continue to play (been replaying Deus Ex and Jedi Knight recently). But as for future game titles, if the PC versions continue to use Securom 7 and associated restrictions, I have to say I will probably be getting those games on the console. I'll miss some PC exclusives, but so be it.

Games I have for the X360 include: Mirror's Edge, The Darkness, Perfect Dark Zero, CoD 3, The Orange Box, BiA: Hell's Highway, Far Cry 2, TimeShift, Prey, Condemned, Bioshock, Dark Messiah, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2,and FEAR 1 & 2. Third-person games: GRAW 1 & 2, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Lost Planet, Dead Space, Gears Of War, Dark Sector, Prince Of Persia, Tomb Raider: Legend.

I'd say, generally, that the third person games tend to feel more natural on the console.

I think by default platformer games, racing games, sport games and fighting games. Basically the thumbstick has alot more control than WASD in terms of movement as it has degrees of sensitivity making it much better for these kinds of games.

RE5 has to control better on a console, the controls on PC are terrible. You can't even run and shoot you have to stand still and shoot. The hype machine is strong in this one...

I've had my PS3 for a good 5 months or so now and I still don't have any games for it. I've had my 360 since it came out and I've not played it in probably over a year.

not specific games, but certain genres I prefer on my Console.

Platformers

Beat'em ups (the standard fighting game)

Driving games, of all sorts.

anything else on PC :s
