It happens to everyone.

You get a game, don't play it much and then abandon it....only to go back to it months later and realize how good (or bad) it was.

For me it would have to be WITCHER 2 among others.

I started playing it, but got put off cause of all the loot and alchemy. Then a person on this forum told be not to worry about that too much, so I came back to it months later and am loving it.

What's yours???

Why did you abandon it???

Was it BETTER or WORSE when you came back???

Mirror's Edge. One of several games I went back to playing. When it was first released, I liked the idea of it but I was disappointed. I was playing the console version at the time. I revisited on the PC years later and I loved it. One of the most underrated games ever.

TF2, when I first played it I had a very low amount of internet per month and also it lagged terribly. So I played offline, but the bots get boring. Anyway, went back to it after I got unlimited net. I now have 986 hours in TF2. My favourite FPS ever!!!

Vampire Bloodlines, played it at launch - buggy, unpolished mess that contributed to my fried graphics card. Came back a year later with the user patches and loved it.

How can it contribute to making a video card faulty?

Just now I went back to ArmA 2 and I'm loving it so far.

The Witcher 1 - got stuck part way through chapter II and left it, came back a year later and finished the game, loved every minute.

Metro 2033 - I stopped playing part way through due to computer troubles, tried playing it again a few months later and finished it.

System Shock 2 - tried playing it in ~2008 but it just seemed to dated. I came back to it last summer and finished it, fantastic game.

Speaking of Vampire the Masquerade, I tried playing it last year but when I got a ATI video card all of the textures went crazy and I couldn't fix it. Should try it again on my new laptop

Deus Ex - At first I didn't like it all that much and I got stuck half way through the game so I stopped playing. Returned to the game and started from the beggining a few months later and it's been my nr. 1 game ever since.

CSS, and WoW. Play each very hardcore for a month or two then don't play them again for 3-4 months.

Prior to 2008 I use to always return to Warcraft 3:Frozen Throne and Americas Army (version 2). Currently I can't get enough of Starcraft 2 and am surprised that it has held my interest for almost one year, because I typically play a game for a month before being lured to something else.

BioShock 2. Played it, and got bored about 5 or so hours in. Played it again recently and couldn't stop until the end, for some reason.

The Witcher 1 & 2 - gave up until the Enhanced Edition for the first

Titan Quest - Made it all the way to the final boss but could never beat him. Finished 2 nights ago with a friend in co-op

F.E.A.R. - scared the wits out of me when I was younger, bought and replayed it 2 years ago and it was of the best FPS campaigns ever

Killing Floor - Bought it on release and only played it for about an hour or 2. Was not interested enough and was playing many other games at the time. Also I recall starting a new job working a lot more back then. Randomly tried it out again during the steam summer sale and the circus update and racked up over 90 hours with in 2 weeks.

Kings Bounty - Loved this game from the start but suddenly stopped due to my new job at the time. Was about 2 years and 6 months ago. I also botched my game by playing poorly, running out of gold and not being able to buy a strong enough force. Recently started a new game and have been playing a little more wisely and loving it. Very long game and still have Armoured Princess and Crossworlds to do!

First game that comes to mind is Deus Ex.

I first installed it a couple of years ago, but after playing games like Crysis, the dated visuals bothered me. I re-installed it again in January so I can be ready for Human Revolution. I've played more than 20 playthroughs since then. :)

The Longest Journey. Stalled at chapter four 9-10 years ago. Picked it up cheap on steam along with the sequel and clocked it yesterday. Now playing through Dreamfall.

I do this with about 60% of all my RPG's that I play. I'll play them for awhile then jump into an FPS and then jump back into Rpg and then so on an so on. You get the picture. Takes me forever to finish an RPG. Speaking of which I still have to finish Risen and Divinity II Ego Draconis. While I jump back and forth between Deus Ex HR and Alice Madness Returns. Then I have my mp games that I play, TF2 and RO2. To many games so little time.

Assassins Creed, I stopped half way because I got bored of it. After that, I kept on thinking about it for really no reason until I replayed it until the end. I thought it was a better game then it was made out to be.

Probably Assassin's Creed 2, I thought it was going to be as repetitive as the first one because it was boring in the beginning, I gave it another try and was plesently surprised.

Too many to count. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's how I normally play all my games; install it, play it a little just to see how it runs, ignore it for a long while, then come back to it weeks or months later to finally play it concertedly. The latest game to follow this pattern was Civilization V. Before that? Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Why do I keep doing this? Two reasons: 1) I'm busy with other games, usually games I've ignored from weeks and months earlier, and 2) I'm waiting for the new games to "patch out."
