my hard drive just died. as i wait for the RMA process to go thru so i can install a replacement HD and reinstall the OS, i started thinking about which games that i have already played and completed i would reinstall. i'll probably put HL2 + episodes and portal back on (for occasional FPS and so i can replay HL2 before EP3 is released, whenever that will be).

what games do you keep installed at all times? i can see many people keeping an RTS or two for quick skirmishes and the like. what other games tend to always stay installed on your rig?

RKMara, don't you have like a 100 games installed then? :o

You must have a huge harddrive.

I uninstall games as soon as I'm finished with them. Unless I know that an expansion pack is coming soon or something.

I do reformat every now and then and I don't install most of my games in the first place.

I uninstall games from time to time, not so much for space limitations so much as just to keep the drive clean. Helps cut down time when I'm trying to do a virus scan or disk defragmentation.

Right now I've got The Orange Box, Audiosurf, Sins of a Solar Empire and...that's it. I did a complete reformat about a month ago, so I haven't installed a lot of my other games.

Icewind Dale + Heart of Winter + Trials of the Luremaster + Auril's Bane

Master of Orion 2

Sins of the Solar Empire (most recent addition to my personal Hall of Fame).

And I always keep some FPS installed for some casual, relaxing gaming. (Vegas 2 most recent one, Half Life ep1 before it, getting ready for finally starting ep2).

Yepp, that's me too. But usually I tire of older games, then reach a point where I decide to move on. As of late, I've moved on to Team Fortress 2, so that's the only one I have installed. Also, I've sold most of my older games.

I've had Wizardry 8 installed since december 2001. Ultima 7 has never been uninstalled, its been transfered from on one PC to another since 1992.

A lot of the games that stay are RTSs, of course the factor being the urge to play skirmishes/online multiplayer here and there. Games include CNC Generals: Zero Hour, Rise of Nations, AoE 2, Warcraft 3, DOW: Dark crusade. Also can't get myself to uninstall Rome TW. Love the battles and the campaign.

Counter Strike and Call of Duty seems to be the only FPSs that manages to stay close to occupying a permanent space on my HD.

The rest come and go.

I typically uninstall every game once I finish the single player as I don't have time to play multiplayer. The only game I still have installed that I finished is COD4, because I want to replay the Gunship level.

How many games does Herrick keep installed? Way too many. I only have about 5 gigs left on my 160 gig drive. And no, it's not because all the porn is taking up space 'cause I keep that on a seperate drive. I definitely have a problem with installing games, getting bored, then going on to another game. I figure I'll keep the old games installed because I'll eventually go back to them...yet I never do.

I hardly keep any game installed for more than a couple of months. Once i finish them, they go into my "For Later" bin. I install them again when i get bored with the new games.
