Depends what budget you have. so I would suggest you to go with a 5850 or 5870 if you also have enough power supply perhaps.

We need to know how many watts your power supply can provide, and also if your motherboard has a PCI express 2.0 slot.

power supply is 550 but I could up that if needed. The pc is only 3 weeks old. It does have PCI express but how can I tell if it's 2.0?

If it's that new, it should have PCI Express 2.0. I'm not really sure if there is an easy way to check that, but it might help if you told us what card it came with. The PSU should be fine with most cards.

Ouch, thoose cards to play most games at high, thats quite to much, thoose should run evry game out with a sh**load of AA. Even a GTS250 does run almoust every game out to near maximum setting given a normal resolution. (without AA obvious.)

I didn't come with one. Just had the onboard crap. I put an old ATI radeon X1300 pro in it for the heck of it until a get a real monster card to put in it.

I'd suggest the 5750 or 5770. They aren't too expensive, and they support DX11

The PCIE type will not make a difference unless the OP goes for a top tier x2 card. That aside, the CPU may prove to be an outstanding bottleneck with a 58XX card. The 5750 and 5770 you suggested will probably be the best bet.

Go for a GTS250 if your PSU doesn't have 2 PCIE plugs. If it does go for a 5850.
